A Great Day - A story with a Message

Hey WA Family, I just want to tell you a little bit about my day.

I'm not sure if it's like that around the world, but on the beautiful island of St.Lucia where I'm from, January 02nd is considered the new year's holiday.

My friends and I had been planning a Bros day for several weeks and this was the perfect opportunity. Many of them had been overseas studying but were back on Island for the festive period. Today had to be the day. It was the only day we could all meet up due to various circumstances such as work before they returned to University.

How did the day start??

Well, unlike all other days, rainy. We had been experiencing lovely weather up until this morning. It threatened to put our day off but we had made a decision to meet and stuck with it.

Best believe it paid of. The sunshine that encapsulated the day was just magnificent. We first went to our old college field accompanied by one of the guys' dad and had a lovely day of football (soccer). Instead of playing 2 halves, we ended up playing 3 thirds. The first ended in a tied score of one a piece while the second ended goal less.

We were tired, dehydrated and at the mercies of extreme fatigue which made it very difficult to commit to the final third but we decided that we must have a winner. We concluded that the final third would be played under the rules of the golden goal (the team who scores the next goal first wins).

Conditions were unfavourable and bodies were tired. But we played on. We pushed ourselves to the limit under a now scorching heat compliments of a tropical sun. We were getting no where. It seemed like the deadlock wouldn't be broken. We mustered up one more play and best believe the perseverance paid off.

With only a second wind left, I was able to get at the end of a sublime pass and provide a clinical one touch finish. My team had won the game. With the last play of the match. What a match up it was. A physical work out rivaled only to the gym routine of a world class bodybuilder (or so it felt). Next would be the beach.

After the match, we packed up and ordered 10 pizzas and bought a few sodas. We then took a casual drive to a beautiful beach located at the north of the island, next to the world renowned Sandals Grand Hotel.

There we ate, had a few drinks and just relaxed. We later went into the sea to have some fun and ofcourse took some pictures. I then noticed something about the position of the sun and the view from each perspective. No matter where you were on the shore, you'd always be perfectly aligned to its location.

Why post about my day?

It is quite simple actually. I picked up or noticed three things which were amazing and are a motivation for us all.

1. Stick to your plans/goals.

Sometimes ,like today, life provides us with rainy days. Moments like these make us want to push our plans/goals to a further date or complete give up on them. But we must remain stead fast in our decisions. The result? Sunny days.

2. Never give up.

Life has a way of making things difficult sometimes by providing us with unfavourable or difficult conditions when we start enjoying it, as was the football (soccer) match. But we have to continue pushing and striving. We cannot let those moments bring us down. We have to push and finally we achieve our goals, or score them. And I'll tell you one thing, the victory can only be sweeter when you've endured and succeeded.

3. Stay true to your vision and dreams.

Sometimes we tend to see a vision or believe in a dream but give up along the way because someone else saw it differently. Truth is, success is relevant to you. The light you view yourself in is the light you will be portrayed in. Both my friend and myself were able to capture ourselves from different areas in line with the sun at the same time. What does this prove? That no matter the situation or comparison you need to adjust your lens to suit you. You need to adjust your focus in life so that it favours your vision and dreams.

Success is relevant to you. Only through sticking to your goals, enduring along the way and focusing on your on dreams can you truly enjoy your vision.
