A selfish niche
The lesson on niches was certainly inspiring! My niche is based on a selfish need to survive. We experienced the tornado that ripped thru Beaver Co., PA in 1985. Watched that "black skyscraper" march by w/in a half-mile of our small farm, ruining the livelihoods of our neighbors. It was definitely a Wylie Coyote moment.
I'm focused on building a site that offers quality, useful emergency items at reasonable prices. You've seen those kits in your local drug store- clunky plastic boxes that crack in cold weather. Or contain little more than a few Band-Aids and couple packets of Sanka.
I'd also like to offer tips based on personal knowledge of weather-related issues, specific needs of elderly, pets, and links to organizations like FEMA and the Boy Scouts.
There's another nee to be filled- Emergency food kits that are gluten-free and SOY-free. (I have allergies.) Gluten-free? Sure they're out there. Soy-free? Practically non-existent. The search continues.
Basically, my goal is to offer useful tools for comfort and a little peace of mind during those weather-related scary times. And I know for sure that WA is the foundation I need to achieve it! TN

Sounds pretty useful! I'd be interested in having a look at it :-) Emergencies and natural disasters can certainly 'pop-up' out of nowhere sometimes! This almost sounds like it could be an extension of MY niche... flashlights and accessories! Best of luck with it.
Sounds like a good start. I would encourage you to read my link about niches here though:

I think it may help you decided if this is the right niche for you or not. But I suspect it is.
