OMG! Member Rank Sucks!

Member Ranks is that reverse block number, but what does it all mean?

When I first joined WA and saw my rank move, I became excited and if I mentioned it in Live Chat (where I spend time), the chorus of naysayers came out in unison with the mantra:

Member Rank means nothing

This mainly came from members in the 500+ who had been in WA for years. I was not sure to believe them, but since they have been here so long, I decided they must be right and decided to stay quiet while my rank increased daily.

After a while I decided to analyse this Member Rank and find out what is really means if anything.

It represents how active you are in the Community. Each member is ranked accordingly and the prevalent point scorer becomes the member's Status.

Mine is

Then we have other awesome members and you can see their Status to the right

So if I tell Peej his member rank means nothing it would be an insult, since he works tirelessly to create awesome content to help members do the seemingly and otherwise impossible. And he is just one of many who create or contribute.

So now I want you all to to shout from the rooftops and ignore those who put you down.

WA is is showing you they value your contribution to the platform. And that's something worth shout about.

Squawk if you Agree

What Member Rank are you excited about achieving?

See you @ the Top!

I agree with you. It seems like the ranking system is as important as the boot camps etc. feedback and comments have been a helpful training tool. No doubt I'll be a better blogger as a result of reading posts and even how others comment.
Thanks for posting this technismart.

I agree that it really doesn't mean anything. For instance, there are some people that always comment on any and everything. Therefore, they have a very high WA rank. However, do they ever leave a comment that has any value to it? Debatable.

I guess the real question is do they provide good advice, training, etc. for the Wealthy Affiliate community? If you're here long enough you take it with a grain of salt.

Garen, the wonderful thing about WA is, we can all have our opinions. I don't have to agree with you and vice-versa.

Thanks for your comments, which I clicked the LIKE button..

thanks I was first here in 2008 and then rejoined in 2015. Really love it :)

I really like your post. I was shocked when I joined and was ranked around 48thousand I figured there was no way in the world I would ever get near the top numbers. I joined just over three months ago. I just started being me, writing a few blogs and chatting with folks here and there, not making a major effort. When I found myself bypassing 500 I was once again shocked.

I do agree that if you are not a chatty person and don't like to share or blog that you will not climb in rank. But honestly, that sort of person isn't going to be interested in gaining rank anyway.

HI Wendy, Thank you for your kind comment. I try to tap into the heartbeat of WA with what I call "OMG" kickers. You should just be you and it will all happen for you in time.

100. But I better learn more before then. Lol.

Michael, I love my near daily diet of TechniSmartism! You sum up over a number of posts why WA is the place to be! The energy and drive within, is just what I need and enjoy most. To motivate others is what I did well in my day job, but to find so many "new friends" in WA that exude the same love and belief in "Community" as I do, is simply mind blowing! Here I am celebrating because my ranking has dipped below 500 for first time since i joined a life time away just before Christmas! Have a great week Michael and please go on just as you are! Chris

Chris, you are one I can always rely on to comment on my posts.
500 is a milestone and just stick to the plan and I will..

I am not pursuing my rank in WA. I just help and contribute the best I can. It is just a by-product of that.

It can be a distraction from my core business if I involve too much in WA (just for keeping/ achieving a rank).

That's funny you say that, because I got a bad flu over Christmas and was absent from 23-29 December, but my rank incrementally dropped each day. It was a byproduct as you say from working the plan.

The member ranking can either be beneficial to you or it can work against you and deter your efforts. It really depends on the individual. My background outside of WA is in NYC apartment rentals. In the past I have worked with a company that openly showed the ranking of other agents commissions for the current month. It was a little motivational but at the same time an invasion of privacy. Needless to say I am no longer affiliated with that company. The ranking system at WA does not show actual $ value. It is possible to be very successful using the WA system and not rank very well or even the opposite. For newbies such as myself it keeps encouraging me to be more active in not only the website design but also the WA community. Not only are we paying dues to have a top notch education at our own pace but we are also paying dues for a support system. I believe a huge portion of the ranking system also measures how much we support each other in our efforts.

Agree with that. There are members who are very successful financially on their web sites, and yet ranking mediocre at WA.

We met in the Live Chat btw, and I am following you :)

I agree and I disagree. Most people at WA either want to be trained, made to feel good, or helped. The people that do those things for them here at WA will automatically be RANKED and their efforts appreciated. However, some people, for some reason that I clearly don't understand find that getting RANK is everything to them. It's a game that has no purpose in that their efforts are not about making other's feel good, training others, or helping others. It's just about the RANKING. For those, that are just looking for ranking at WA maybe, just maybe, they need to get a life. DAN

Well Dan, I do agree with you, but as I want to keep a blog punchy, I did not drag out all the other reasons and issues. But they are quite valid.

At the end of the day I am interested in my Amazon commission. The member rank is merely a gyroscope to keep me pointed in the right direction towards profits. They go hand in hand IMO.

Thanks for the lively debate Dan, I do enjoy it. :)

Michael: Thank you for your response to my comment. I appreciate it. When the day is done, it's all about learning and community here at WA. DAN

Thanks Michael!!!!

It can be difficult balancing working on my websites while providing tutorials and assistance to other members here. But, I feel so much for our community and hope to help others past the obstacles and mistakes I first made, saving them time and the anxiety of frustration.

Also, I feel it's just good karma!

Cheers brother!

Pj: It's people like you that make this WA thing work so well. Thank you for all of your efforts. DAN

Thank you SO MUCH Dan!!

The truth is the truth Pj. DAN

Thank you. I have watched my rank go down alot based on my own level of success.

I found that the more I succeeded the more I would turn around and contribute the more problems I faced he more opportunity I was given to teach and therefore learn

I normally avoid thinking about my rank as like you said many people discarded but truthfully it is a lot of effort to be helpful for myself anytime I see a member this in the top 200. I know they put slot of work in to get there.

And I follow and read because I can learn from there pushing effort. Keep pushing my freinds

Thanks for the positive comments and that is See you @ the Top!
