10 Days, Social Traffic, First Ranking Page
I'm a little over two weeks in to the WA program, but I only launched my website 10 days ago. The first few days I worked on a "make money online" style blog but I quickly discovered that I wasn't really passionate about that topic and that made it hard to stay motivated (even though I really want this to work). So I switched from Affiliate Bootcamp to the Online Entrepreeur Certification and started over.
It's been 10 days since I followed my gut and I'm feeling really good about it! I decided to launch a blog about lighting because it's something I love, even if it's not the most lucrative. I am famous for buying weird lamps and leaving every light in the house on. And since this is a topic I already nerd out on, coming up with blog ideas is easy.
Ranking on Google
So it's not much, but I already have one page ranking on Google! Considering it's only received 2 impressions and 0 clicks it's not going to be a money maker but it's still cool to see a post I published 10 days ago is showing up in search and SOMEBODY is seeing it, even if it's literally just 2 people. I'm also glad that it's my about page, because that's good for branding. I don't see any other pages showing up in search yet but I know that everything is indexed.
Content Update
I want to keep track of these numbers so I can look back at the end of the year and track my progress - and so other WA members can assess their own progress as well. So 10 days in, I have:
- 4 categors (this probably won't grow)
- 3 pages
- 6 posts
In case you're curious about the pages, in my 9-5 I'm an SEO Strategist. I specialize in technical performance, and one of our best practices is to cover all legal questions. So in addition to the Privacy Policy I also have a Terms of Service page and an Affiliate Disclosure page. I don't index these but they are there for Google's understanding.
If you want to copy mine, you can - just make sure to replace my website with yours! https://lightinghappy.com/affiliate-disclosure
Site Traffic
A few days ago I had a whopping 8 users visit my site. This is actually a pretty big deal because they all came from social media. I think if I had more followers I would get more action, but it's at least good to know that my posts are engaging enough to drive a couple of clicks. Even though traffic is still almost non-existent, this is technically my first "traffic spike" so I'm feeling really good about making the switch and really good about WA overall. I'm sticking to the training but also trying to apply any tricks I've picked up in the past. I think it's okay to go a little off script but don't disregard anything- grow your knowledge and try new methods.
I'll check back in a couple of weeks and let you know how month 1 went.
Happy posting!

I need to see what you are doing right. I have had my site up and indexed over 3 months and I don't have rank or impressions or clicks with any of my posts. How did you do it.
First, I highly recommend the Google Site Kit plugin for your site. It connects your speed insights, analytics, and console information directly to your website.
Second, getting social traffic to your site is a good way to "prove" to Google that your content has value. I shared my link on Facebook, Pinterest, and Instagram. If you have people you trust and don't mind getting their feedback on your site, message them the link on Facebook and ask them to take a look- that way the traffic comes from Facebook.
Third, I changed my default sitemap settings. I could write an entire blog post explaining the changes I made there and why.
