This year has been a roller coaster for me (emotionally speaking) because I THOUGHT that I worked so hard on my site >>> WITHOUT HAVING THE SALES I was expecting.

What is here the main problem? - I have asked myself

  • my social are not on trends?
  • I don't have the right attitude?
  • my products are not good enough?

Well, surely, when things are not going the way you hoped, it is good to question your choices, but there was a point I was missing: MY SITE.

I thought I did a good job (considerring I have never designed a website) but hell no!!!

  • sure I designed my site graphically pleasing to the eye
  • but is is SERVING WELL MY CUSTOMERS?
  • Are my customers able to find the informations and the products in the easiest way they can?

So I started an E-COMMERCE LISTING course which is really opening my mind to work FOR the clients and not for myself only!

Said this, you and I should pay an extra care attention to the HOME PAGE of our sites

  • because they are the first TOUCH POINT with your readers /customers who don't REALLY know you or your company
  • in one page, we have the GREAT CHANCE to tell them our VISION + VALUES + MISSION
  • but most important HOW CAN WE SERVE them

Here there are the key elements your home page should contain:

  1. VALUE PROPOSITION (what customer's pain we want to solve / how we solve it / why they should choose us)
  2. MAIN PRODUCTS CATEGORIES (publish on the home the main products categories you want to push)
  3. EDITORIAL CONTENTS (this content should talk about your company and your products - I will write a deeper content about corporate pages)
  4. TELL YOUR BRAND VALUES (if you don't tell them your values, how can they decide to choose you?)
  5. THE ADVANTAGES OF BUYING FROM OUR SITE (fast shipping, customer care 24h)
  6. REASSUREANCE values (what happens after they buy from you?)
  7. FAQ (try to answer their questions before even they ask :)
  8. TOUCH POINT FOR CUSTOMER CARE (whatsapp chat or any other fast way to reach you to have assistance in case of problems)

All these elements are important to humanize your brand and make it closer to people who need TRUST before taking the choice to buy from you!

I will modify my home page adding the missing elements!

  • A VERY USEFUL EXERCISE > Check the home page of your competitors
  • how are the pages organized?
  • where are the different sections we talked before located?
  • take notes
  • adjust your own home page!

P.s. if we keep on doing things always in the same way, we will get always the same results, so let's make some changes!

Awesome, thanks for taking the 100% human time to deliver this wealth!

very grateful. and blessed to see it.

Lol! Doctor Frank's legacy here! :)))

You're spot on here as always Romy and great to hear from you again!

We must always offer our readers (potential customers) what they are looking for in order to solve a particular problem!

And of course.... keep things as simple as possible!

Enjoy a fantastic start to your weekend my friend! :-)

Thank u so much Jessie! :))

Always my pleasure my friend! :-))

Some sound and thoughtful elements to consider for an effective homepage, Suomii.

I could easily get caught up in the look and feel of the homepage and overlook these other areas that you mentioned.

Appreciate the post!
Isaiah 🙂

yeah that's the big risk we designer could encount: get lost in a pleasent design that finally does not convert well!

It is better to keep it simple and give the customers what they really need!

Interesting read for me Suomii1.
Why interesting is that minutes prior to this post I was evaluating my homepage in my mind. Then finding some nuggets throughout this reading is golden.

Thanks again

Rick

Ciao Rick,
yeah our homepage should be constantly evolving according to the main products we want to push (even for affiliate marketing) and the main messages we want to convey as brand.

It is something not set in the stone and our great opportunity to get our customer's attention, so you do very well evaluating it from time to time!

I am happy my post gave you some good ideas! :)

Thanks for sharing Romy. We both know how important it is that our homepage be clear and concise. Should have simple navigation, clear CTA’s, and be pleasing to the eye. Our audience should fully understand what the site is about without the feeling of putting together a 5000 piece puzzle.

yes exactly but here there is ANOTHER MAJOR POINT:
They should understand clearly how we can serve them!

We have to be extremely clear about the fact that we have these values+skills and we are putting all of these things to your service!

Because the problem is that we focus on us, instead of focusing on the customers' journey! Once we shift perspective, I guess all our journey will change totally!!!
