When I started my african textiles business - 12 years ago!! - Instagram was already a consolidated platform, but it was still growing, so we owners of aesthetic business jumped into it, and loved it!

If I grew over time and had thousands of sales in Etsy, in my private catalogue and via whatsapp has always been thanks to Instagram.

WHAT HAPPENED THEN?

What we loved about Instagram was that you were NOBODY if you did not have a VERY WELL CURATED FEED.

• this attention to every post was showing your customers not only your aesthetic
• but also your values and the care you put into work!

Then...Tik Tok came over...and Instagram lost its soul to run after Tik Tok...

• The beautiful curated feed was suddenly replaced by people dancing foolish moves
• Your posts did not have any reach
• You should compete with a 13 years old creator who knew how to make video with stickers!

I left my account there...anytime I had to work on it, I felt an internal resistance that made me hate Instagram!

• but it was still generating contacts, and sales!

EDIT + THREADS

Now, Instagram is not anymore a standalone app, because it is part of a larger ECO-SYSTEM.

Infact, Meta (which owns IG) has created THREADS (a sort of TWITTER - X) and EDIT which is a super simple video editing tool!
