PINTEREST: ADD PRODUCT feature + My theory "1 pin a day"

Pinterest never fails in surprising me! I think it is one of the most rewarding and serious platform out there!

If we used Pinterest as a way to rank better and drive traffic to our sites, now we see that it is moving towards a big marketplace with the feature ADD PRODUCTS.

ADD PRODUCTS1. Go to your Pinterest Account > Create Manually a Pin > you will see the "ADD PRODUCT" feature

  • I tried some different scheduler for pins and all failed in one way or the other
  • so I decided to publish manually one pin every day
  • I noticed this feature "add products" which allows you to add the link of your product
  • it is a VERY DIFFERENT FEATURE from "visit the site" because it created something like a CORRELATED PIN with all the features of your listing of the native site
  • if someone clicks on the product > he/she will find all the related pictures of that product, listing description and reviews and the link to purchase it.

I started working on a very dead Pinterest account just one week ago, and thanks to 7 pins I sent traffic to my Zazzle shop and had two sales!! This leads to another important point: my theory of 1 pin a day

  1. THEORY OF 1 PIN A DAY

If you listen to all the Pinterest gurus out there, you have to create every single day at least 49 pins to get noticed. WRONG. Since I started working on Pinterest, on two different niches accounts, I noticed that ONE SINGLE pins can serve you extremely well, if you do this steps:

  • if you have a product to promote > brainstorm the main keywords about the product with Chat GPT (product's characteristics, niche and use)
  • then go on Pinterest > and validate or expand those keywords
  • look for annotated interest associated to your product (search for Vitality vlog )
  • give all these keywords to chat GPT and create title /descriptions / hashtags seo optimized (and eventually create also some variations of the same pin)
  • create a visual appealing image (the product must be the focal point)
  • pin one pin a day

If you work with care on ONE pin, enriching it with many relevant keywords, it will produce some results for sure!!! No stress, you will improve everyday your workflow and with time you will create more pins a day! The stress of creating several pins daily will make you stop working on Pinterest very soon, while one pin, built with extremely care, will really drive traffic to your site!

THE ADD PRODUCT FEATUREYou can see how the "add product" feature works by tranforming the pins in a very landing page for your product (do you see the related images on the left? they were taking AUTOMATICALLY from my zazzle collection, and so the reviews)

ZAZZLE SALES

And these are the two sales driven by Pinterest, in just one week!

So, dear beautiful souls, there is no excuses for not working on Pinterest, just one well crafted pin a day will give you great benefits to your business!

Good morning Romy,

Thank you for the heads-up, it's appreciated.

This looks like a very useful feature which I must try out.

It's great that you had two sales.

I trust that all is well with you and life is good in sunny Italy!

Have a great day and thank you.

Roy

Ciao Roy!
Yeah the weather is really beautiful in these days!!!

It is a feature I need to understand the more, because it seems to work in a slightly different way according to the platform where your product is.

For example, if my product is on Zazzle, all the pictures are displayed on this mini landing page.

If my product is on Etsy, only one picture is displayed.

Anyway, it seems to push the customer to buy the more!

I send you big hugs and sunny energy from Italy! How is going everything with you?

Good morning Romy,

May is a lovely month as everything is fresh and green and we have the summer to look forward to!

That's interesting, I'm sure as you move forward you will find the best way to utilise this feature.

At least it's pushing the customer to buy more, which has to be a good thing.

Everything is going okay, thank you, Romy. I'm hoping to sell my off-line business, so that I can spend more time working online and more time in Greece!

It's good to hear from you.

Have a great day.

Roy

A great lesson and it pulled in a great conversation exchange.
The idea of one pin a day is interesting.
Thanks for sharing,
Sami

Thank you so much Sami! We trying to get the most out of Pinterest!!!

Thanks for sharing Romy. I never knew what to do with the ‘add products’ section. I’ll have to try this.

I did notice that consistently pinning grows your monthly views but declines when you stop. For a time I was doing 5-7 per day and had 3.5k monthly views at one time.

2

The "add product" feature creates a true landing page for your product so it is a good feature!

That's why I promote the theory 1 pin a day! In this way, you keep the consistency Pinterest likes so much, without feeling overwhelmed!

Big hugs my dear Steve!!

Why ? :)

I didn’t mean to put a ? lol

I used the ‘hugs’ emoji but it keeps coming back as a question mark. Lol
🤦🏼‍♂️

ahahahahhaah! we are too old for this!

This is not what I see or experience at all. I had a zazzle store 4-5 years ago. I had 0 sales from Pinterest. Over 5 years I made maybe 1k. I slaved on that store like you will not believe.

Now it is much worse. I have 1100 pins less that 10% I think have any traction - and I am not talking viral that get thousands of impressions in the first 24 hours. I am talking anything with more than 100 impressions. I have a handful of pins that "took off" and have a few thousands impressions over 2-3 months. No idea why these ones and not the other pins for the same post. They use the same annotations etc.

I am sure one pin a day works in some specific circumstances, but it won't work everywhere. Pinterest is a numbers game on steroids. Yes, people put out 48+ pins a day because they have the financial means to do so. They have VAs and they pay for tools. I am past the limit I can afford for tools and I can see that there are a few other things that would be useful but ... tough it up marine I think is a saying down in the US.

If I put out a pin a day and Pinterest flags it for whatever reason, what then? I noticed the products displayed on one of my pins a while back. My understanding is that those are links for Pinterest to make money of the sale. Those are not affiliate links to benefit me. My understanding is that affiliate links on a pin are not permitted. If I add a link from pin to affiliate product on Amazon for example, I put my account at risk. I may be wrong, but I don't think so. Lori Ballen explains this is one of her videos - both free and paid - and it looks like she knows what she talks about. But then again, anybody can say anything nowadays, there is no burden of proof anymore...so all this leaves me slaving to Pinterest day in day out and now wondering what will happen with the many bans, buttons disappearing, and other "fun" stuff going on Pinterest and elsewhere...I so wish you were right though you have no idea ...

Dear Mona,
the proof is in the screeshots. I work really smart on my keywords and annotated interests and ONE pin is extremely ok!

If you need I will show you the google stats for my zazzle shop and see how much the traffic has grown in few days all related to those 7 - and underline SEVEN PINS.

So I stick to my theory: one very well crafted pin creates results, indeed.

P.S. We must inquiry better on the affiliate links and understand if they put at risk your account, but everybody adds link to external sources. Anyway, I will inquiry the more on this aspect!

I am not doubting that it worked for you. I am saying that is not the case for everybody and every niche.

Of course, every niche needs some refinements!

But, consider this: if you craft extremely well your one pin in every part (title, description + annotated interests, hashtags, related topics, alt text and link) you are preparing the path for the steady growing of that pin.

It is very difficult to do this accurate job for even 5 pins a day, if you don't have time!

That's why I suggest to learn how to build a good single pin EVERY SINGLE DAY, and once you become more experienced and with a very well structured workflow, you can escale to two-three or more pins.

There is no need to put yourself under a big pressure until you find your pace and workflow!

One thing that it is important I believe is to know what is the end goal. If the end goal is to direct the customer to a specific product is one thing. To hope to make ad income is a completely different thing. Raptive requires 100000 page views a month or 3000 page views a day.... last months I managed 1200 views a month ... working 8 hours a day most days. I don't have a product to sell, so I trying to scrape a few pennies of advertisement income. I am very far from that. So far that I am wondering if I should still waste my time with this. The pinning must he very high volume and must be consistent. I know that I won't be able to pin during my summer vacation and I am expecting whatever meager traffic I have to tank over those weeks. This is not accounting for visit buttons disappearing and other weird thing....This is for ad income. For specific products once again I do not know. I don't see an add product section anywhere. What is see a section called "Show similar products" This is not a section that I can use for affiliate income for example. All I can do is say yes or no. I put it to no at some point, but after mentioning it in a Pinterest mastermind group, I was told that it might not be a good idea because Pinterest might ban my account. This is how Pinterest makes money - well one of the ways of course. Somebody buying form one of those links makes money for pinterest I guess - certainly not for me. There is no way for me to track if somebody clicked or bought from those links. So I let it be. If somebody can confirm one way or another I'd appreciate that...

1

Dear Mona,
I check on Pinterest for the affiliate products and yes, you are allowed to post them > but you need to activate the affiliate disclosure (I post a screenshot so you can see where it is)

If you already know you cannot post on summer, try to plan ahead your pins (at least one a day to keep the consistency > with tailwind free plan you can do that)

I guess you are comparing your situation to those of very experts marketers, trying to achieve irrealistic goals for your current knowledge. This makes you only more frustrated because you don't see how to reach those high level of traffic.

You could set realistic goals, plan small improvements and be happy of any result you get! It is the healthiest way to learn and grow your business!

If you don't see the "add product" tab, be sure to create pins manually from pinterest desktop! I don't use the app so I cannot tell you if this tab is there too!

Thanks. I cannot find anything on my pins that looks like that. I know that I can link to an Amazon product for example. But Amazon does not allow - as far as I understand - the use of their images on pins. Or blogposts. It is very possible I might be wrong, but I am not going to risk my account as poor as it is to find out. I see people linking form pins to etsy stores etc. This is not working for me - I do not have a store. As for comparison, I read the requirements for the ad agencies. Mediavine has lower requirements but the platform is such a mess that I am not going there. My understanding is that Google does not really have an entry requirement in terms views, but without traffic there is no money. With 1200 views a month after 9 months, there is nowhere to go in terms of revenue. Not even 50c. This is the only thing I am interested in and that I watch closely. I cannot wait 20 years to wait to make some peanut income meanwhile paying memberships, products, tools etc and working 8 hrs a day on top of my job??!! This is not growing a business. This is slavery. I am ok making certain investments, but I need to see a light somewhere otherwise it makes no sense. And I am sorry, but I do not see how a pin a day would work for me. BTW my outbound clicks are already going down thanks to seasonality of my niche as well the whole mess going on on Pinterest at the moment....You have no idea how much I wish that 1 pin a day would be enough. I'd have a life again...

PS. I did some more research about the add product feature. It seems to be available for verified merchants or on mobile. I am not a verified merchant. There is also something about idea pins or something of that nature. Linking to amazon may or not work. Assuming that I solve this issue and I can add products - what next? What are the next business steps? How do I make the pins? What kind of image do I use? Do I pick all the best sellers from the emails Amazon sends out, slap them on pins and I am done?! I have a feeling this is not how it works, but then again I do not know and I could not find the info on this platform. So if anybody can clarify these aspects by all means please do so.

I understand deeply your frustration, Mona, believe me I really do. Running an online business right now is way more complex than 10 years ago, when I started with my first Etsy shop.

Anyway, this is exactly where many people quit.

Let me answer your questions.

AMAZON PICTURES
It is true that Amazon and other companies don't allow to use their own pictures (also Zazzle does not allow to use their own mockup). Here is the thing.
- take the original picture with the product
- isolate the product from the background
- create a mockup with AI (Leonardo works perfectly with the free plan)
- add your product to the mockup
- publish the product as pin + affiliate link

1 PIN A DAY
One pin a day serves you to create a smoothly workflow. Because you need to create a system in order to create 10 pins a days. So while creating one pin a day, you refine your system (use AI to create this system) and once you have all the pieces in place, you will create 2 or even 100 pins a day. We need to work smarter.

THE TRAFFIC
You are in the food niche rooted in traditional recipes and natural process. You will always have seasonal themes to talk about. Start writing about fruit juices, fresh salads, organic summer fruit and so on and then switch to the fall ones. Your goal is NOT eneterring in mediavine, your goal is to send people on your AFFILIATE LINKS and even one pin with 10 visits can serve to this purpose.
You are comparing your situation to Tony Hill or Carly. Forget about them, they sell courses. They want you to believe all their stories. But you can focus on directing traffic on your affiliate links. Vitality, Jay, Eric are doing this without spending money on all these tools. Select ONE GOAL: I want to gain my first affiliate commission and focus on that, not on Mediavine.
One small goal at time!!! You are working extremely hard but you need to start small, one goal at time!
This way you will learn faster and get more results!

SET REALISTIC GOALS!

ADD PRODUCT
I have it but I am not a verified merchant. Maybe it depends on the "type of creator" you selected in your settings.
Go in your settings > account management > where it is written "business type" select "online retail and marketplace"

great article!
