PINTEREST: How to Leverage the Huge Pinterest’s Data Bank to create Content
The recent Pinterest’s changes have disappointed me so much, but I have been running an online business for many years to be defeated by an AI and these challenges give me the fuel to always find new opportunities.
So, I was asking myself: “Pinterest is primarily a VISUAL SEARCH ENGINE, how can I leverage the huge amount of data they have about what people are truly interested in?”
Something clicked in my mind today: “What if I use Pinterest as a data bank instead of focusing on driving traffic to my shop?”
I recall that Jay in his Pinterest’s series and Tony Hill too (one of the Pinterest’s guru), said they use a REVERSE ENGINEERING process:
- they perform a research of keywords in Pinterest
- they find keywords with high volume of monthly searches
- they write blog posts about those topics
- and THEN they create a campaign of pins directing to that blog post!
Since I am re-thinking my way of creating content trying to multiplying it on MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, I thought: “hey I can grab the more promising keywords in Pinterest and Google, choosing the strongest ones on both and THEN creating content that could resonate with the latest trends” Not easy but with GTP help, doable.
So, If you really want to tap into Pinterest’s power for driving traffic and sales, mastering keyword research is essential — especially for niches with a strong visual and emotional appeal like aesthetics, styling, and seasonal trends.
VISUAL + INSPIRATIONAL + SHOPPING-FOCUSED KEYWORDS
When we search for Pinterest keywords, we want to focus on those ones that remind us of “Visual, Inspirational and Shopping focused intent, which is different from the Google Keywords research based primarily on solving problem intent.
1. Focus on Keywords with Clear Visual Intent
Avoid broad or generic keywords like “Independence Day” or vague phrases like “celebrate freedom.” These don’t capture specific visual ideas or decorative uses. Instead, search for terms that evoke imagery or style, such as:
- 4th of July aesthetic (visual inspiration)
- wall art patriotic (shows how to use a product)
- printable 4th July art (specific product seekers)
2. Think About Seasonal & Occasion-Based Searches
Pinterest users often search with a specific event or season in mind. Use keywords that reflect this timing and intent:
- holiday home decor ideas (ideal for occasion-driven shopping)
- summer party decoration ideas
3. Connect Your Keywords to Lifestyle & Mood
Make your keywords resonate emotionally by linking them to moods or lifestyles, which helps build brand identity and attract the right audience:
- boho patriotic vibe
- minimalist summer style
4. Use Pinterest’s Search Bar for Suggestions
Start typing your seed keywords in Pinterest’s search bar and note the autocomplete suggestions. These are real phrases people are actively searching for and often include long-tail keywords perfect for your niche.
5. Avoid Keywords Without Visual or Decorative Connection
If a keyword doesn’t clearly relate to images, decorations, or styling ideas, it’s best to skip it. Pinterest is a visual platform, so your keywords must reflect that.
Those keywords could be a potential infinite bank of content ideas especially created for Pinterest and we know that it rewards those pins where there is a high coherence between the visual asset and the landing page.
This approach could help me to identify some creative ideas to develop collections and gives me a more detailed look about what and why people are looking for that inspiration.
Anyway, I won’t rely solely on Pinterest for driving traffic to my shop, this is just a piece of a more refined workflow on some different platforms which I hope to perfect with time!

Thanks Romy have saved this to my favorites and yet another great idea to find content in this case Pinterest.
Many people either forget or don't' realise Pinterest is not just a visual board full of images but also a search engine as well hence the need to type in keywords and finding other ideas.
Often reverse engineering works out better than straight forward thinking especially these days online.
Andre :)
Yes Andre, in these days, I start all my keywords researches in Pinterest since it gives me the EXACT informations about what people is looking for my niche.
But GTP suggested me to pair the Pinterest keywords which have an INSPIRATIONAL intent with Google ones which have a PROBLEM SOLVING intent. Putting some of all those in the same article can help your content to rank better in Pinterest AND in search engines faster!
So let's leverage all these datas!
That's iis great to hear Romy and yes taking other options and combining the actions with GTP certainly can help further.
I also ask it to give me some keyword focused on search intent of the readers and do Comparisions elsewhere.
The more options we get the greater the ability to expand further online
So lets move forward and we can all enjoy the benefits we get and importantly give to others to help them.
Enjoy the end of the week and have a great weekend too.
Andre :)
Thank you Andre, it is truly exciting to be part of this content revolution, having ALL the possible tools to succeed!
When I chose WA I knew it was something good for me, I trusted my gut!
