When Ideas Dry Up

When we live in a world full of information, it’s an irony that ideas dry up when one sits down to put thoughts on paper (or the computer monitor). Perhaps, the information overload that most of us suffer from makes things blurry and it becomes difficult to pin down on a specific topic upon which we could build our ideas. Time being scarce, we get stressed up to keep up with our target of adding new blog posts and one suddenly lands into that dreadful zone called the writer’s block.

I guess, one of the cardinal mistakes of most bloggers is the thinking that one needs to publish daily (or one after every two days) to get ranked. It’s a waste of time not only for the writer but for reader as well. In fact, the readers are not going to waste their time for they will not read at all. They would rather read something that inspires them than a hammed up, recycled content. And if one is writing purely for ranking and the search engines, the creativity goes for a toss. And believe me, most readers can feel it.

Well, I too suffer from writer’s block from time to time. But the best part of being in Wealthy Affiliate is that I can take the liberty to take a break from blogging by exploring thousands of blog posts of fellow members here, training videos and going back to the previously completed lessons for that extra bit of useful information. And trust me, I come out more informed everytime. Instead of getting flustered with trying to put up new posts, there’s so much one can do in the “spare time”. And I need not browse the internet even for the information I need. Everything’s here.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sukumarth.
On my blog, I post about three articles per month on average.

I am into self-improvement. Don't ask me how that came about. While I was getting ready to research mobile phones and accessories with the idea of traditional affiliate marketing, the idea of relationships and self-improvement topics came out of nowhere. So now I have had tremendous writing "experience" due to having to write for that niche.

I have yet to experience writer's block. I just flow. For me there are so many angles to approach something from and so much inspiration out there, it just happens.

There is a very well-known blogger who posted just 12 articles for an entire year and made 6 figures, so I guess it depends on quality content and spending the rest of time promoting the content that is already there on the site.

Great article, sukumarth! Very well written, as well. Carol

The number of ideas to be derived on the internet is inconceivable. And that's just one point in time!

Yup.

So true, most of my inspiration comes from inside WA.
With Grace and Gratitude

Good information. Posts should provide value and solve a problem.

That is the great thing about the community here at WA, every time you are struggling we are able to slip in and check out what others are up to certainly helps with the motivation.
The thing about writing is that it can become like a job, and who loves there job that much that they live and breathe it 24/7, finding that balance is key, learning when to step back is a really good skill to have still working on it but the thought is there thank you for sharing.

Doing something creative can help. OR just cut of what you are doing. It can help to revitalize your creativity.

Excellent approach!
