Cheese Toast with a Side of Frog

Tomorrow (Tues) is designated Cheese Toast Day. Hey, I didn’t make this up. Cheese Toast Day translates to Grilled Cheese in my book. It’s easy and very little time in that space I call kitchen. I did get a couple very nice offers from people willing to send me food from my last blog though. LOL

So, what does this have to do with Frogs? Well, I was thinking about eating and remembered a book by Brian Tracy called “Eat That Frog” He has a lot of books out but this one spoke to me. It is 21 ways to Stop Procrastinating.

That has always been me. I used to LOVE writing research papers and briefs but always waited until the 11th hr. to do them. Why? I don’t know. It makes no sense. This book helped me or maybe I’ve gained wisdom with age???

In either case, the gist of the book is that we all have the same amount of time in any given day. Yet for many, there is simply too much to do and too little time. This is true especially now with many parents trying to not only work but have children home instead of at school. You never really feel like you get it all done. So, what do you to do??????

Mark Twain once said that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you can go through the day with the satisfaction of knowing that that is probably the worst thing that is going to happen to you all day long. (I’ve heard frogs were good eating but my issue is—what if that frog is my Prince Charming?? – sorry couldn’t resist)

Fortunately the Frog in this case is the biggest and most important task you have and is the one that you are most likely to procrastinate on. If you do this first, the rest of the day will flow much better. I can attest to that because that big task will sit on your shoulders like a weight and the longer you procrastinate, the larger the task seems.

You cannot do anything about time but you can manage how you use that time. Everything that you do or don’t do determines your success or failure. So spend your time on high value tasks. You have the ability to determine your priorities and what you consider your biggest task of the day. Is it to conquer Pinterest, create a YouTube video, or write a post for your blog? It’s up to you. Everyone’s priorities and daily goals are different.

Remember this though:

You will never have enough time in the day unless you start spending more time on the few activities that will make a big difference in your life and toward your success.

It’s the 80/20 rule. This means that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of your results. That 20% will most likely be your frog.

So, eat that frog first with a side of grilled cheese tomorrow/today/Tuesday (whatever time zone you’re in) and see if you feel better and more productive the rest of the day.

Hugs

Great post, Pareto's Law or the 80/20 rule is a law and a principle and as you obviously know we wouldn;t be able to achieve KPI;s without it and if they don't get achieved than CSF's will be out the window.

No you wouldn;t want to be devouring your prince charming! Oh why do I fall for it and enter into dangerous territory!! lols

have a great day!!;

R.

LOL. Some might think you're speaking in a secret code. KPIs ARE important and only constant monitoring leads to success.

Dangerous territory???? Never said the spider to the fly. 🤣

You too. The day is going tooo fast! I'm still trying to get to that frog!!!!!

I understand frog;s legs are tasty you know we call the french frogs as a result!! ;

I used to own a copy of "Eat that Frog". I think it was a PDF. It was sent to me about 13 years ago by a Canadian Company promoting affiliate marketing.

As horrific as the title sounds, it's a great book and the lesson to deal with that heavy load before anything else is valuable.

I enjoyed your little bit about Prince Charming. Thanks Debbi :)

Yes, it IS a good book. I read it long ago and recently purchased a new copy.

Thanks for your input, Valerie. 😊

Debbi, in France, frog legs are a delicacy. 🙂
Never had them with cheese though.

This is very clear and direct advice on how to get out important things done.
It makes perfect sense.

Thank you for your humour.
I am going to remember this all week.

😊 I like the lesson and frogs make it memorable but I think I'll pass on eating the real thing.

Thank you for your comments. I'm sure you're already abiding by the 20/80 rule though.

I am trying my best, Debbi.

The scale tips sometimes but, all in all, things are going well.

I love your spirit!

Debbi, I’ll never look at a frog without thing of your book and procrastination.

Hey, blame Brian Tracy and Mark Twain. 🤣. The book was good.

Think I will eat cheese toast and DO the important things. Eating frog? Yuck.

😂😂😂. I totally agree.

You definitely got attention with your (yucky) headline!

It was yucky but I thought the 80/20 was a good reminder and it was a good book.
