I Asked This Question To My Kid!

Dear WA Family,

Happy Day!

Due to health issues, I have resigned from my Amazon Customer Service Job. Now I'm focusing full-time on building my online business (some might be aware of this).

My Kid - Elijah:

My Kid is fond of toys, fried chicken, ice creams, and going to restaurants. So the task is... If he performs well in the exams (O grade - Outstanding), he will get his preferred toys and KFC chicken. For every good task he completes, I will give him something.

I was able to afford it because of the good salary, but now I'm focusing on building my online business from scratch and on a tight budget.

My Question To My Kid:

I asked him...

If I continue with the Amazon job...

I can provide him with toys, fried chicken, ice creams, and take him to restaurants, but I can't spend time with him and sleep with him (Elijah loves to be with me for just 100 hours per day LOL).

But,

If I quit and focus on building my online business from scratch...

I can't afford to take him to high-class restaurants to eat, no toys, no ice creams, but I can spend time with you, I will take you to school, and I will pick you back and we can sleep together.

Which one do you prefer?

He asked... How long will you not get me those things? I said it might take a few years... He asked a few years? Yes, I replied!

He said... Daddy, WE will do business, and I don't want any of those things. I want to be with you!

I'm not exaggerating...

My Wife:

Since I was struggling with health issues (more than 1 year), my wife kept saying to me to quit the nightshift job, but I want to provide my family a better life, so I didn't quit my job, and I continued.

Finally, doctors advised that if I can change my lifestyle and take proper sleep at night, we can fix it (I was working on night shift for 9+ years in my life - Customer Service & Outbound sales - You know how challenging it will be and the targets).

My wife kept saying I will support our family by doing a part-time job (We have a little one (Elisha), 1 year old - Son (Elijah), 7 years old), and you focus on building our online business. Your health and kids are very important to me.

I Was Moved:

My wife said both the kids are longing to spend time with you. When you lock the door, and you are working (That's how I need to work as per policy), the kids are knocking on the door and crying for you. This is a routine. I feel really bad and struggle to convince them.

Often I feel like crying when I come on my breaks from my work, and I spend time with them (15-minute and 30 minutes break), and when I go back to work, there will be a war to get separated from my kids.

My Takeaway:

Our loved ones are longing to spend more time with us and to be with us. At a certain point, more than our money, our family needs US.
