Progress So Far

I am redoing the training after taking a year long break to deal with the current issues we all face.

This time focusing on a niche where I have more experience, a how-to site on chess, called remedialchess.com.

Also doing everyting according to the recommendations, and believe I have a good chance of getting ranked by the search engine soon.

I was happy with my use of animated gifs to tell a story, but this may be premature self-congratulations. For instance, they can't be turned off, and may irritate some viewers, like flashing neon signs.

My goal in the next 3 months is to finish this reworking of the training, and make at least one sale within 6 months.

I took a look at your site and there are lots of codes by your images, just like Diane had mentioned.

You will need to tidy up your site to make it look professional. Chess enthusiasts will look at your site as being less appealing.

You will definitely succeed with your goals. You have a good mindset. All the best!

Hi - I took a look at your latest post, and there is a lot of visible coding in it. So, you have either added the gifs incorrectly, or their original source has been removed.

Just as an aside, your latest post is entirely copied from chess.com. I can see that you wrote the original article, but Google won't know that.

It will simply see the post on your new website as being entirely copied and therefore will not rank it. Everything on your new site will need to be entirely original, not published elsewhere, even if you wrote the original post.

    Diane,
    Thanks for the heads up!
chess.com liked my articles and gave me top blogger status and an affiliate marketing link. The new site is designed mainly for that at first. I'll re-write the content.
I have a hard time inserting images with site content vs the wp dashboard, but still am a fan of site content

    Diane,
Thanks for saving me a lot of headache!
I could have used the affiliate link on the original site rather than duplicating content and competing with the original instead of augmenting it. I just didn't know the basics, which I'm learning here!

Starting over is always a positive thing
This time, you're starting from a stance of experience
    You will do great
    Keep the focus going

Well done, Steve! Glad you're back and it seems as if the New year has had a good start for you, my friend!

    Jeff

*** Good progress, Steve! ... keep at it! ... all the very best ... :)) ***
