The Death of Websites? SEO to Become More Important?
The question of whether websites are "dying" and the future importance of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) touches on several evolving trends in digital media and technology:

Are Websites Dying?
- Shift to Apps and Platforms:
There's an observable trend where users spend more time on mobile apps than on traditional websites. Platforms like social media, where content is consumed directly within the app, have seen significant growth. This doesn't necessarily mean websites are dying but rather that the landscape is diversifying. Websites still serve as primary sources of detailed information, commerce, and personal branding.
- Content Consumption Habits:
The rise of video content, especially short-form like TikTok or YouTube Shorts, suggests a shift in how content is consumed, potentially making traditional website content less central for some audiences. However, blogs, news sites, and e-commerce platforms continue to thrive, indicating websites still have a robust role.
- Microsites and Niche Content:
Websites are adapting by becoming more specialized or focusing on microsites that serve specific purposes, like landing pages for marketing campaigns or interactive web experiences.
Will SEO Become More Important?
- Increased Competition for Visibility:
As content continues to grow exponentially online, and with the shift to where content is consumed (like within apps or platforms), SEO's role in ensuring visibility becomes more critical. This is especially true for businesses and content creators who rely on organic traffic from search engines.
- Algorithm Evolution:
Search engines continuously update their algorithms, often making SEO practices more complex. SEO isn't just about keywords anymore but involves user experience (UX), site speed, mobile optimization, security (HTTPS), and content quality.
- Voice Search and AI:
The rise of voice search and AI-driven search experiences will further evolve SEO strategies. SEO will need to adapt not just to text-based queries but to conversational queries, which might emphasize long-tail keywords, local SEO, and featured snippets.
- Privacy and Data Changes:
With changes in privacy laws and browser policies (like Google's move away from third-party cookies), SEO will need to focus more on first-party data(information that a business collects directly from its customers), content relevance, and user engagement metrics.
Conclusion
- Websites are Evolving, Not Dying:
They are adapting to new technologies and user behaviors, finding new niches, or integrating with other digital platforms.
- SEO's Future:
SEO will likely become more nuanced and important as the digital space gets more crowded and competitive. It will involve a broader set of practices beyond traditional keyword optimization.
Ultimately, while the nature of websites and content consumption is changing, websites will maintain significant usefulness, and SEO will remain crucial for digital visibility. Both areas will continue to evolve, requiring ongoing adaptation to new technologies, user behaviors, and search engine algorithms.

I believe the future will be highly niche related... and many niches will become outdated or no longer relevant...
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this
As most of us already know, building and maintaining a website is a constant task.
Websites (and Blogs) are so abundant these days, it is very hard to be on "Page #1 of Google". So the SEO thing can be a lot of time, energy and work for little reward. Algorithms change, kicking the king off the hill.
My current approach is my Personal Brand (MagicBrad)
And my Business Brand (Synergy __________ )
I have registered multiple domains for these brands.
I create (free) Social Media Pages and Groups with their names and links.
They do not all go to websites. I do re-directs to point them where I want.
I firmly believe there’s a strong shift to a more person-to-person connection through video. As the ways of information gathering and sharing of information changes from reading to more video consumption, we need to adapt accordingly.
Since starting back in February 2024, the online landscape has changed enormously. Solely publishing content, getting indexed on search engines, waiting to rank a page to get traffic, and then waiting to make conversions, doesn’t seem enough anymore.
Great post, Steve!
I agree that websites are changing but still important. SEO becoming more important makes sense with all the online changes happening.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I do find this post a good one.
The idea of overworking a website can and harsh especially to the opens that are on that learning curve. It like Gary Vee telling the online entrepreneurs that "Live Social Selling" is the new best thing. Well, I don't really see myself enjoying his idea. So, I'm sticking to the website and learning all I can about SEO.
Appreciate the share Steve.

The initial intrigue with affiliate marketing was the idea of being behind the curtain with a computer and making money. Now, it seems we’re headed toward video more and more. That’s why I’m looking into starting a YouTube channel very soon.
I’m still working on my websites but it sure looks dim at the moment. It’s tough publishing content and seeing it disappear into a tornado.
*My wife just gave me a word of encouragement: “the pressure you're going through will produce diamonds, your breakthrough is about to happen.”
Wow. We are on the same page. Business is a work in progress. Stick and stay and the rewards are on their way.
Great response from the wife.
