Today is the end of the 2nd month of the year, not yet Spring, still Winter in some places, other areas of the country, seasons are flopped, so whatever or where ever you are, this time of year is a good time to stop and reflect and Do a Life Inventory.

"A What Steph??" You may be asking yourself.....

This post I am writing was inspired by Kyle'sPost this morning.

We have all heard about the need to have your "Why" when you first start a new business venture. Plus, we all know or should the need to have a business plan laid out as we move forward. And within that business plan, you should have thought out most of the details of your current why and how at the time you write this plan.

I put some emphasis on current why and how because as we go through life and pass through different phases of our life and create different lifestyles for ourselves, our why and how can and should definitely change, but do we always take the time to step down and update the why and how? Do we take a life inventory and think about how we have evolved and changed throughout our lives? What have we discovered about ourselves since launching into this new field of online business and working from home? How has our why changed? How have we changed? You may be a newby reading this and already have your initial why and how thought out and that is great, but for some of us who have been here for a year or two or three. I, myself, will have been here for three years in April, and I have gone through changes...

When I first joined I had just lost my father and had moved from 2000 miles away to be closer to my mom, so I left a job that I enjoyed, and came a city and state that had a low employment rate, a city in which you basically have to create your own job, and it wasn't because I lacked formal education or work experience, because I have plenty of both. So, I found WA and started working and meeting new people here. But with my father's loss on my mind, knowing that he passed away due to heart failure and knowing that he had his first heart attack when he was not much older than I now, I decided to go get checked by a doctor here, and discovered I had a whole bunch of health problems, most of them heredity, and so I gave priority to my health, which we all should do.....I had surgery back in December and I have almost recovered fully from that and am getting back in the swing of things here.....So now is a good time for me to Do a Life Inventory and think about my life, what I have learned, what I have discovered about myself, etc...

And perhaps this is a good time for you to do the same thing and also do a life inventory and think about what is important to you and how you have changed since diving into the world of internet marketing, and online entrepreneurship. What differences are you facing now? How has that changed your why and how? It is okay and wise to stop and reflect to yourself about what you need and you who are and what your updated values are.....

Feel free to share your insights, stories, moments where you saw you needed to make changes to your business and your path due to life changes, etc. I love reading everyone's stories....

Sincerely,

Well, first and foremost, it's so good to see you, Steph!

Second, glad to hear you took action to tend to your health issues.

Third, I agree and appreciate your thoughts, Steph. I'm a strong believer of self-reflection, taking time to not just go through the motion but to know why I'm doing what I'm doing.

This year really started off with a bang, and I was filled with excitement! Although the excitement is sill there, and I'm actively pursuing something I've been wanting to do for over 20 years (going back to school) there are other issues that are sapping my time and energy. I may not be able to physically retreat to a cabin in the woods, but I definitely need time to regroup.

All the best as you continue to present your best self, Steph,

Veronica

Hi Veronica:

Nice to make your acquaintance. Wouldn't we all move to retreat to a small cabin the woods. That sounds lovely.

So, you said you are going back to school? That sounds exciting? What are you studying?

Keep in touch and I hope you have great success in 2018. :)

Steph

There's a part of me that would like to study something completely different like anything to do with animals (I could really see myself on one of those Discovery channels, swimming with the dolphins or something like that), but I think I'll stick with Business Management and just do some volunteer work at an animal shelter.

Hi Stephanie,

Great open letter and idea. Yes, the journey through the different stages of building an online business make one do a lot of thinking throughout the process.

Changing directions a bit, and learning that what we thought was true about oneself may have another side.

Good luck on your continued journey.
Sami

I agree with you, Sami. I've discovered "truths" about myself that are not...ah...complete.

It's been an amazing - sometimes frustrating - journey.

This is really true Steph. Thank you for sharing these wise insights.

At different times of life we have different needs and our values change a bit throughout life. It's really necessary to take some time to reflect on what is your Why more often.

I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your father. But how good that you have made health checks for yourself now.

Wish you to be fully recovered real soon.
:-)

You're such a wise woman, Pernilla, full of sincerity.

Veronica, you're too kind!

YOU are one of a kind, my friend.

Wish you lots of energy and may you find time and inner peace for yourself to do what you really want to do.
:-)

Yes, we need to do an inventory of WHY, and be fuelled by PURPOSE. These two will drive us forward. Nevertheless we each have our pace of learning, and turning things around, but the important thing is to keep keeping on, until we achieved the desired success.

That is so true. We each have our own pace and need to follow our own path and that will be different for each of us. Thank you so much for replying. :)

Throughout the course of this journey, sometimes we'll need to apply the brakes, whereas other times, we can push forward all speed ahead.

You are right Veronica.

Being reflective leads to being effectively directive Steph. Good points!

I like that - being reflective leading to be effective. :)

Oooowww! Hopefully I get t right when I try to repeat that to someone, lol.

I love to see you in there pitching Veronica. You are so essential to WA

Awww...Papa...you're making be blush!
