Choosing Winning PPC Keywords For Ad Campaigns

Eugene inspired me to write this post as I saw from some of the replying comments that most of us at WA do not know how simple it is to choose a winning keyword for ad campaigns using Bing ads and Google Ads.

So I went to a treasured folder that holds a prize PPC course and will be bold enough to show you some of the details regarding choosing winning keywords.

Keywords

You should always take some time to read over the product website you will be promoting. After you have familiarised with the sales copy of the product and also the website it is on, you should select words that are related to the website or information on the sales page.

A great way of of finding variations of a word is by using synonyms - words that have the same meaning or are related in some way. For example, if you are advertising for a movie download site, you could use synonyms or words related to "Movie".

Here is a list of what I came up with:

Movies, movie, film, films, vidoe, dvd, soundtrack, ciinema, hollywood, entertainment, actor, actors, screen, audence, funny, star, oscar, actress, director

This is just an example; obviously, you wouldn't use all of them - simply the best ones to use

Here's a very short keyword list to get more of an idea of how this works:

get paid to do online surveys

highest paid surveys

These are just examples of how you can create keywords and ads from the keyword - Surveys.

NEWS FLASH: Google Ads and Facebook do not like direct links from your ads to the sales page as shown above. Your destination URL should be the landing page for your review about the product or content that pertains to that product. Hope that's clear!

You can edit examples such as these to your own liking. If creating a Google Ads account for the first time, just select one campaign to start with. When you have finished creating your Adwords or Bing Account, you can add more campaigns later and add new Ad Groups,. Then select the keywords you want to associate with the relevant new ads you are creating.

You can also do a Google Search to see what others are using for their ad descriptions. Of course we now have Jaaxy, but at least you get the general idea. Simply select the best ad descriptions and create your own! Make your ad stand out from the rest and encourage people to click on your ads.

Cost Per Click Tips:

Simply maintain your Google Ads or Bing Account from now on. Set your maximum default CPC (cost per click) to $0.10 Give it a day or two, then click to see how many clicks you have received. If you have not received 10-20 clicks, reset your mximum CPC to add on 5 cents, so it should be about $0.15 cents by now. Then give it another day or two and see if your clicks have increased. If you then notice an increase in cicks, then thinigs are going well.

However, if you did not receive an extra 10-20 clicks per day, add on another 5 cents to around $0.20. Keep adding 0.5 cents evrey couple of days until you are getting desired results. On average you will need about 100 good quality clicks to be able to start seeing amazing results and getting lots of sales. Sometimes it may take 200 or 300 clicks and this is normal when you first start off and get the ball rolling.

If you need about 500 clicks before you get a sale, you need to think about removing keywords that are not performing well and refining your keywords

You should not attempt to pay more than $0.40 per click to keep your costs down. This ensures you are using the most cost effective way of producing the best results - getting the maximum number of clicks possible as fast as possible yet keeping in line with your budget and proportional to the average sales you should generate to be in good profit.

As a beginner, start off setting a budget of $10-40+ a month.....

Very Effective and Important Tip

Bidding on common misspellings and typos. Misspelt keywords. You know millions of people search online every day and they just don't spell right. This is going to be to your advantage as nobody bids on these keywords. If you inlude these misspellings into your Keyword list your ads will most likely be placed at the top of the Sponsored Ads List and it will cost you virtually nothing because there is no competition!

So Remember Misspellings, Plurals and Synonyms Matter a Lot

Also expand your keyword list as much as possible You need to build up bit by bit each day. Though this may seem like a lot of work, it is not an overnight miracle. One thing I've learned is that with practice comes the knack of producing winning keywords and winning adsl

Another point is: Only have one AD for each keyword you use. Have one set of ads for each variation of keyword you are using. One ad per keyword or key phrase. Constantly tweak and improve on this. Remember the Ad we did earlier and how so many keywords came from that one ad...

By specialising a new ad for each new keyword. Even if it means you have 100 or 1000 keywords. This will increase your ad's effectiveness and the more people will notice and click it, the more your click rate will improve dramatically. What's more - you will be ranked higher in the ads display PLUS you will pay less costs per click!
