Google Suspended My Account

I logon to my Google Ads account and received the following message.

Your account is suspended.

Google suspended my Google Ads account.

I have absolutely no idea why my account was suspended.

I click on the "Fix It" link and discovered there was nothing wrong.

No balance due

In fact, I have $74.36 balance in my account and it shows no balance due.

I did a transaction and paid $100 with my credit card to test and guess what?

Google took my money even when suspended.

  • Why would they take my money when they suspend my account?
  • Isn't the procedure to reverse the suspension or unsuspend the account before accepting payment so it can transact?

They accepted $100 for an account they suspended for no known reason.

Then the credit increases to $174.36.

Now, I had to write to them for an answer and maybe get my money back.


The following is the reply.

Account is under review.

I do not know what is going on but the only reason I can think of is I stopped my campaign because the results we horrible.

That should not be the reason unless I am not spending enough money with them and they are not happy with low spending accounts.

Let' see what Google comes back with and I hope they have an excellent excuse for insulting me by suspending my account and still taking my money.

If you have the same problem, don't do any transaction and pester Google until they reverse the suspension.

I am disappointed, and this is not the business practice I expect from a billion dollar unicorn.

If you want to get your money back there is one way which I have used up to 5 times successfully in different google ads account.

It can take 1 week to 1 month to get refund automatically by using this one & only way.

I had a similar experience with Amazon. These big guys are as ARROGANT as hell, like insurance companies. They're quick to grab your cash (that's how THEY get rich! - not you) & have the power to block/close your a/c down even though they OWE you. So you're stuck. I don't trust them one bit! ,,,tantamount to scams.

Yes, this is not a pleasant experience, and I guess given what it is, I just have to resolve this with them. Strange that they set standards for others like limiting affiliate marketing ads and links but do not measure their own business practices.

Agreed! Double standards ....& what I see as dishonest practices and behaviours. It's like in corporate where the head honcho with all the POWER dictates the rules ...which amazingly don't apply to him/her.

Still remember "Do no evil"? Apparently they didn't get that memo.

Stanley... sad to say i had a similar experience with Google and my Adwords account a few years back... after I'd built the ads up to generating $400-$500 (USD) per day.

No information about why they closed the account, and I've never been able to find out.

@Stormystori has a good suggestion below. I can report however that occasionally Google will manage to link a new account to your suspended one (i've had that happen too) and will close the new account.

Sigh... afraid there's not much to do about it, at least as far as I've been able to uncover.

There are PPC alternatives available if you need them. Ironically if you do a Google search on "PPC advertising platforms" you can get more information.

Thanks for the link, Dale. From a technology perspective, you are right, they can link any number of accounts to the individual based on the amount of data they collect. Eg, they know the physical address from the billing address, credit card information, IP address where you access the internet from and all the internet data available to them. Scary but true.

Unfortunately that’s business. Things like this happen and it’s not until you get a reply to understand why it happened in the first place.

This is why I love diversity. It’s happened to me on Amazon before for no particular reason. It sucks for sure and I hope you get your money back.

Hi Stanley, I do not like to hear things like this. But it happens.
Google is for the most part very kind to me.

It understands my effort and sometimes reprimands me for any errors in omission.

Overall, I am satisfied with what google has provided me so far.
