Do you blog for blogging sake?

So, you have a website and need to blog.

Of course, you need to write a blog post...

What if you do not have anything to say?

However, the date since your last post gets further and further away so you realize it’s time to publish something. Anything...

What should you do?

Should you just publish anything?

Your website is starting to show cobwebs...

What should you do?

There’s only one thing to do. Time to get motivated, get yourself ready, and knock out a post to get moving again.

It might not even be good, at least you overcome continued procrastination.

Sure, you are the perfectionist and you reasoned...

Writing isn’t something you can force.

I agree so let's jump start this with a little creativity and hopefully we can spark some inspiration to overcome that laziness to blog.

I am sure you have lots of knowledge, so...

You can write about what you know.

You got no time for a detailed, authoritative blog...

You can write something general.

You still have no ideas at all...

You can link your post to someone's post and write about that...

I know none of this is groundbreaking advice. If your last blog was sometime ago, it would not be about the content but the need to get back into the habit of writing.

As long as it is still your voice in the writing, sharing what you have to say is good enough to get going and this could be a step to keeping your site active.

I'd like to recommend being proactive in writing content. Like planning the topics of a series of posts before starting to write anything.

Next, create common outlines for the different genre of topics.

Then start writing. In this way it may take a while to get started, but when you have this plan in place, as you complete one article, the next one is there waiting for you to begin.

What do you think about this approach Stanley?

Thanks.

Edwin

Great idea, Edwin. I am starting to identify areas of focus so I can differentiate myself. Once that is done, identifying keywords and article topics to create a proactive list to work on. I will be doing as you suggested.

Your post is exactly what I've been thinking about at times, Stanley. Sometime is takes time for me to look up a keyword, or see what's trending now on social media with my niche. Then there's the research.

And while all of this is going on, time is passing by on my website, as you said, collecting dust and cobwebs.

That's when I just start blogging and writing anyway about stuff I already know - to stay engaged.

Thanks!
Isaiah 😊

Thanks for your validation, Isaiah. Need to keep ourselves going... 👌🏼

Thanks for sharing your ideas and tips Stanley!

You are welcome, James.

Great post. Presently I have lots of ideas to write about. But I like your post because, like most, I have had moments where I procrastinate. I will keep you instructions in mind.

Have a Wonder Filled day Stanley.

Louise

Thanks, Louise. Appreciate your comments.

I generally don't blog for blogging sake. I feel like it has to be purposeful or have some kind of intention behind it. Sometimes I might feel like I have nothing to say but generally if there is an idea but I think I can't write an entire article on that, I find that the words do come when you get started. Sometimes I think it's more about avoidance or procrastination.

I agree with you that you just have to start and before you know it you get in flow and it's done.

It's always satisfying when it's done.

Thanks for sharing. I agree our content should add value but sometimes the challenge is producing enough content with value.

Yes, I sometimes wonder too whether even going back over old posts and seeing whether or not one post could be split into two. Or there might be an aspect that we can elaborate on further that we might have skimmed over the first time.

Updated old articles makes sense and I believe Google likes fresh content.
