Now that all of us have experience working from home for a sustained period with the locked down or stay home measures, do you agree with the following statements.

1. Working from home is easier than working in an office?

  • You find it easier and more productive
  • There are more distractions at home
  • You find the team element a challenge working from home

2. You have the freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want.

  • Is this assumption really true?
  • Do you still need to follow a schedule?
  • Working hours are still fixed but you do have more flexibility

3. It gives you better work-life balance

  • This is true
  • You end up working more and have time and schedule creep due to distractions
  • Difficulty in balancing and setting boundaries, More discipline needed.

What is your experience?

I am sure, if you are working from home as an employee, it would be different from your own business.

Share your experience and views in the discussion below.

Thank you in advance.

With or without lockdown, I'll always prefer working from home.

I've had to turn down a number of well-paying office jobs simply because I enjoy doing "my own thing". And with the prospects online business offers, I have no regret turning down those jobs then.

That's how I see it, Stanley.

Always good to know what you want and pursue that. Great point. 👍🏼

Hi Stanley, to efficiently work from home you need to be very disciplined. Because of the virus which is raging around the world and how the ending of the restrictions currently in place will see a major change in our perception and process of work. Working from home will be the new norm. Irvine

You are right, Irvine. There will be more new norms coming out from this crisis.

Hello Stan,
Working from home has always suited our business the best.
It requires discipline and having good routines in place to get the best from every day.
Taking regular breaks is important and getting the balance right.
You can be a little more flexible with things but if you do not get the work done you will not make any income.
Have a great day.
Daz :)

Thanks, Daz. Enjoy all the benefits of working from home and then adapt accordingly. 👍🏼

Adapting is a key ingredient.
Thanks again, Stan.

Good one.
I have mixed feelings really. Sometimes I over work on a given day and somedays I just can't function at all. I am certainly struggling with the balance. Epecially having the husband home too. Thank goodness I do not have children at home anymore.
I think I am going to need to work on some kind of schedule for sure.

Yes, being mindful of our environment and planning ahead with some discipline many be necessary.

I can't say one way or the other. I have never had an opportunity to work from my home. I would think that it would depend on if you had children in your home, That could be a distraction. On the other hand, I have to discipline myself to keep from watching tv during the time I should be working.

Take care
Charlotte

Yes, Charlotte. The TV is always a temptation. Of course, children and how many people you have at home matters too.
