I'm in LOVE!!! (With This New Tool)
I'm in LOVE With This New Tool!!!
MacSpeech Dictate
I am absolutely, 100%, unequivocally in LOVE with this new tool that I installed today. Right now as you're reading this, I am actually not typing it at all. I'm pacing around the floor (my favorite way to brainstorm). Today I installed MacSpeech Dictate. If you don't have it, you need to get it. Right. Now.
I cannot explain to you how much I absolutely love it. In one night, five hours time, I've been able to accomplish more writing than in the past three days put together. And if that is not testimonial enough... I don't know what it is!
Go, my friends..... get this application! You won't regret it, I promise!
Don't worry PC people: Dragon Naturally Speaking Home 11 has you covered! :)

Maureen - let me know if you try it. :) LouiseM - The reason I bought it (and maybe this is the same reason you were considering it?) is because I saw a post on the Warrior forum, then on another forum I'm a part of, both saying really great things... so I figured I would try it. I honestly think it may be how some people produce INSANE amounts of content per day (you know the people.... when you read their post & you're like, that's nice you wrote 10,000 words today... real nice....yeah....sigh...I only wrote 100.....sigh). ;) Maybe I'll finally get that book done? :)
OldMizer - I'm sorry, I don't understand. This program just dictates your words... people have been doing this for a long time, speaking into a tape recorder or digital recorder and then transcribing it. This doesn't write FOR you... you still have to produce the words. Maybe you are confusing this for another type of program?
ERussell - that's what I was thinking when I got it. I feel I'm much faster this way as well.. honestly it's mostly because I don't get distracted as easily (oooooh, shiny, look at that new email I just got!). I just talk and come back to an article. As far as accuracy, I've found with non-medical subjects it is pretty accurate, about 95% or more (though I think it gets more accurate as it goes). With medical articles it's less accurate but I was still surprised at the words it did get (and if you write a lot of medical content, you can buy an add on for medical dictation, I think). Anyway, let me know if you end up getting it, I'm interested to see if others like it as much as I do.
I'm very tempted. I'm better at producing quick content with spoken word, than with a computer. How accurate is it?
Interesting but I just don't agree with these types of automation. What's next? Some combination of software and hardware makes love to your spouse for you? ....unreal
Hey thanks for this post! Actually a few months ago I seriously considered buying such software and then... I forgot. lol. I'm convinced and I'll definitely check it out as I have a Mac at home! :)
Horselover, there is a pc equivalent... Look above. :) jatdebeaune, I have been super impressed... Maybe it is because I haven't tried dictation programs for a long time, but it had me read something for about 5 minutes...and then I started talking. I think right off the bat it got at least 90 percent of my words right. I reallycouldnt believe it. And I'm not really one to evangelize a product!

I also dictate everything, but I use freeware. I have Dragon, but I actually use e-speaking most of the time (talked about it on my blog) unless I'm out and about when I dictate into an Olympus and then download to Dragon.. I also dictate with Google Voice, which is a great tool when you're on the road and dictating quick blog posts that you can cut and paste when you get back to the mother ship.
As I said in my blog, if you learn the skill and art of dictation you can create 20 articles a day for roll out. It is the only way to go.
