Ads are they worth it
Well I'm in a not too sure mode, I'm still busy training (try to do all the requirements) and keep up with my website, like we all do. Definitely makes us do a list of too do everyweek lol.
So I tried for Avantlink, new it would be turned down due to not enough traffic at this stage. Wasn't worried because I new I could try again later, but now I'm wondering if I want to.
I also have google alert, that lets me know whats happening in my niche. It's fantastic and if something takes my interest I go and look at that website (mines not as bad as I thought). Definitely a tool I would reccomend to everyone.
But that has lead to my not too sure mode.
When I go into these websites all I see is ads, a lot of time the adds takeover the whole website, (excuse the language) it looks bloody awful. The adds don't even seem to link in with the website at all, just random rubbish (sorry).
I can see a place for them and as I said Avantlink turned me down, so at this stage I hope they are a lot more tasteful than other places people use for their websites. Once I get to the stage to re-apply I might have a look and decide from there.
I am happy the way I do my website with affiliate links. I always do it by image/link and have one affiliate link per post. It is always relevant to that post, also something I would like to purchase at some stage (so I can do a reveiw on it).
Yes at this stage I'm not making money or getting traffic, but would rather spend the time and energy trying to create a website that I will be proud of.
Would love to hear other peoples veiws on this, good or bad, am I missing something or do you agree with some or all of this post.
Take care
Sandy

I'm adverse to ads right now, Sandy! Maybe in the future, but not right now for sure!
Jeff
I have 25 websites and this is how many ads I have on them (in round figures):
Zero
No AdSense, no nothing.
After all the work I've put into acquiring traffic, why would I send them somewhere else, to a website I have no control over?
And for a pittance, at that.
Others may have a different opinion.
Thank you Phil
It shows maybe we don't need ads.
Take care
Sandy
P.s how do you look after 25 websites, I have enough trouble with my main one
Hi Sandy. Now I know your name. I only got the S from your profile, (lol). I'm with you on making a website to be proud of. On the other hand, some people monetize their site entirely on ads. I guess one could do that to start making an income. Jay, our resident trainer, available to all on Fridays, has done a course on ad monetization. He shows how to do it sort of trickily, so it isn't in your face. Best wishes. It's nice meeting you.
