I see people asking about Yoast all the time. I personally love it and it has helped me tremendously. I always recommend giving it a try, you can always switch back if you don't like it. I love it so much I made a tutorial on how to use the Yoast sitemap and I am planning to make more Yoast tutorials. How to use the Yoast Sitemap Feature

I changed back from Yoast (premium) to All-in-One SEO (free) as have some other members and we are now seeing much better ranking results, lots of page 2-3 listings going to page 1.
I've also found SEO Framework https://wordpress.org/plugins/autodescription/ gets better ranking results than even AIOSEO but it's less user-friendly at the moment.
As Joost the owner of Yoast has stated, "no SEO plugin makes more than 10% difference to your results", as Wordpress in itself is now very SEO friendly. Yoast however is actually one of the worst performers in regard to getting you a higher ranking in search engine results.
Yoast is incredibly popular because of the interactive feedback, but this is really nothing more than ticking an automated checklist that you could easily do yourself from a sheet of paper, it has no effect in itself on ranking. In fact, there are far better tools than Yoast for ensuring that your text is formatted and optimised to get the very best search engine results (especially as Yoast have moved many features from the free to the paid version). For example, Web Text Tool https://app.webtexttool.com/#/register-free provides much greater in-depth analysis of on-page SEO.
I'd recommend members looking to achieve the highest possible rankings stick with AIOSEO!
