Want some really good stuff to get high?

How about an incredibly profitable evergreen niche with a $35 billion market size and tens of millions of desperate people looking for help?

Yep, once again, I'm talking about a terrifying plague of our modern society ... Drug addiction.

The numbers are hair-raising and saddening. Here they are provided by Forbes, Statista, StatisticBrain and OpenMinds ...

  • it's estimated that over 110 million people have tried one type of a drug or another
  • in 2016 the annual spending on addition was $166 billion on alcohol, $157 billion on smoking, $110 billion on drugs, $107 billion on over eating, $40 billion on gambling and $18 billion on addiction rehab
  • the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency estimates that almost 25 million Americans are addicted to alcohol and other drugs
  • the use and abuse of illegal drugs is a huge problem in all parts of the world, with an estimated 5.5% of the global population using illegal drugs
  • the number of people in the US who used select illicit drugs in their lifetime varies by drug type, with an estimated 117 million people using marijuana at some point in their life and some 14.5 million using methamphetamine at some point

As you can guess, the Google Trends charts are simply gruesome ...

Mr. Jaaxy gave me 3,826 AVG monthly searches for "drug addiction" ... A relatively "low " search volume caused by the broad term itself ... For "alcohol addiction" I got 7,327 and for "gambling addiction" 7,507 ...

And needless to say, there are countless targetable areas: alchol addiction, gambling addiction, drug addiction, sexual addiction, smoking addiction, shopping addiction, addiction treatments, drug abuse, addiction stages, rehab plans, addiction recovery strategies, addiction awareness, etc.

And no wonder, I found 60k (!) addiction-related products only on Amazon ...

My conclusion

It's really hard to admit it, but the fact remains: this is a genuine evergreen niche and is growing more than ever.

The reasons are almost endless ... Some people are born with mental illness that can lead to drug usage and addiction. Peer pressure or abuse can also lead to drug usage. Others will use it just to fit in a group they feel attached to. Or to escape reality ...

I work with addicts in jail. I've heard many of them say they drink or use to escape reality. They can be sober for years, and one sad incident will send them into another destructive cycle.

In some cases, their own mothers were responsible for getting them addicted as children, which is something I've never been able to wrap my head around.

Mental health goes hand in hand with addiction in many cases. It's a heart-breaking cycle with children of addicts being the hostages. This is how the cycle of addiction perpetuates itself.

My heart goes out to all the children and parents who are separated this Christmas. Thanks for the post!

Thank you for the valuable thoughts Holly!

Merry Christmas!

PS, Can you imagine taking this and what is does to your brain? There is no coming back once the brain is fried... We have many crazies here in Australia destroyed by the poison of ice. It doesn't distort the brain it burns it and is the worst drug ever. It should really be called a poison and not a drug.
Merry Christmas Zed
Brad

Once again I agree ...

And once again, I'd like to ask you to remove the image too for the same reasons

Thanks!

It is a massive niche and a huge problem right throughout the world. The internet has opened up a can of worms with the creation of so many backyard labs producing dangerous meth products which often kill.
The access to drugs and alcohol is far too easy and as for gambling, like drugs and alcohol, you can bet 24/7 through the mountains of betting sites throughout the world.
It is out of control.

Thanks for the time and the valuable feedback Brad!

But maybe you should remove that link ... As you said, there are too many easily accessible tips out there ... And WA is definitely not a place where we want to see such information.

Thanks for your understanding!

Yes, we don't want any WA member getting into that.

But you still haven't removed the link Brad ...

It should be removed now

Thank you for your understanding!

All good

You forgot to mention WAddiction, but guess that is a good one to have!
Right on with this big issue and a great niche.
Hope you are having a wonderful day!

Thanks my friends!

Actually it was in my mind, but I said that I won't associate the WA addiction (which is a good thing) with all those nasty things :)

A great niche for the right person. Looks like directJ has already found it...excellent!

Thanks for the time CCL!

My niche! Overcoming addiction is difficult your chasing something you'll never find again. An endless cycle, until you are absolutely ready to stop yourself, get off the hamster wheel and start living life again. You have to find that desire inside of you to stop and it has to be because you want to stop. I can go on and on. But I'll save it for my blog.

Thanks for the time and the valuable input Jason!

Absolutely amazing.

Thanks for stepping by Jon!

I like your writing style. It is short and to the point. Interesting... how could cone carve out a niche in that market?

Thanks Phil!

Which market?

Unfortunately, addictions of every kind abound in our society. There are numerous niches for them.
Jerry

Thanks for the time and the feedback Jerry!
