No A/C Makes Steph Grumpy and Unproductive
Late Thursday night, the air conditioning quit. Since the air conditioning is in a semi, this is kind of a big deal. I was cruising along in Ohio, late at night, and all I was getting was hot air. Not good.
Of course it went out late Thursday, because then my co-driver and I would have to sit all weekend waiting to get repaired. Sitting = no miles = no money. So, we struck a deal with the dispatch: get us a load with time on it to the Utah terminal, and we'll run this weekend and get repaired there Monday.
So, we're running, slowly, but a 1500 mile run is more money than sitting all weekend. It's hot out, 101 in Indiana at one point, and today it's 85 in Nebraska. With no a/c, we have to use the windows, which means it's loud in the truck. And loud means poor sleep.
I'm cranky, I'm tired, and I'm hot. And, I am so unproductive it's not even funny. This is the first time I've booted my laptop since the a/c went out, and I don't even want to do work. Just whine.

I feel for you not a Chrysler truck,? My Jeep is always letting me down! Usually the radiator or transmission though I have had the A/c fail twice too. i feel for you. No need for A/c in Nova Scotia right now!
Air conditioning is fixed, and I am so glad. I also ended up being up about 36 hours straight, so I went to a hotel room (they were still working on the truck) and slept for 12 hours, and had a lovely cool shower this morning.
It's funny, I have no a/c at home, I just hide in the basement when it's warm. But it's almost necessary in the truck. I'm guessing it's because semis are like cars, with the windows up and no air running, the temp can climb fast. Man, am I glad Alberta has air again.

Sorry for your discomfort. I can't stand heat myself. Makes me tired and grumpy. I hope you've gotten some relief since you wrote this.
Bosselman's in Grand Island might offer you a little relief. Figure your on the 80. Eleven hours in the saddle, four hours swattin' flys and eight hours lying in an oven wondering why your so lucky. Sorry to here of your poor luck. Be safe.
There used to be a time when A/C in any vehicle was a luxury. How times change. And you where in Ohio and didn't even wave at me? ggggrrrr
You shoulda driven East. It never got warm here today. Just an nice overcast 70 all day. Sounds like we're in for some heat soon though.
Hope everything works out for you Monday.
It's winter down under in NZ and sitting here by a fire I feel for you:-) Seriously though an experience like that could be recounted in one of your emails to your subscriber list, used in an ebook as an analogy for some point you are making, or ... possibilities are endless. Any negative can be turned into a positive - sometimes profitably. But all that's on your mind right now is your next cold shower - I understand.

No, I'm in an International semi, one of the big trucks you see on the road.
