Beginner's Advice
Okay, so you start WA, you are excited and motivated. You have a somewhat idea what you are going to do (after you were lost) and you are on the verge of setting up your website:
- There's live chat
- There's blog
- You can search for anything if you need help
Now you have your website up, you are doing the social networking, doing your best. You see people have visited your site, but no one has done much on your site. What gives? You think to yourself. Here's when you start going to this crash mode:
- Maybe I did it wrong?
- Maybe no one can find me?
- I failed
- I did everything they said, so what the heck.
- Should I just give up?
Get all of that out of your head. How do you succeed with a failing mind? Luckily, with the help of those who read my blogs, I had a comment that reminded me of what my father did to own his business:
- He started off as a man washing cars
- He educated himself to work on cars
- He got his smog license and worked 3 jobs at once before
- He then went into business with another.
- He moved into a 2 car garage with a small office and yard (for cars to stay overnight).
- He then relocated to a 5 car garage, 2 offices, 2 bathrooms, huge yard, and huge waiting room business.
- Now everyone knows of my father as an honest man, a hard worker, and the man to 'go to'.
So, what's the rush to being successful? This took my father YEARS to accomplish. I'm not talking 5-10 years either: more. I realized that at times my father had his rough times when he first started. (We had to cut back on food when he first started to save money). He did a huge risk, he could have failed, but he got passed all those negative thoughts. Compared to doing WA where I'm just trying to make extra income, he was trying to make A LIVING. It reminded me how I should be humble and patient. Success takes time, failure can be an instant. If success was easy, we all would never grow. Be patient, be humble, and work: that's what you need to do. Most of all, don't give up just because you didn't get that dollar, GET THAT TRAFFIC and be patient.

I've been working since I was 7 back in El Salvador. When I got here at age 16 I work in construction. Since then Ive gotten my HS Diploma and some courses at the local Community College.
I have worked from Plumbing to Office. I don't know how many people you get to meet here, but how many of them have work for 72 hours straight? I'm not talking about no Union job either.
I too have had 3 jobs at the same time, It is a great way to look 30 when you are only 21 lol. You only get to sleep for 4 hours a day too.
Now I won't brag, All i've gain is experience that I don't really need. And like they say in the Marines "What does not kills you, builds character!"
You learn to have patience, but what Ive learn the most is that I don't like working for anyone else or for people to tell me what to do. Don't get me wrong, I'm an excellent worker (had companies call me back over and over). I guess whoever wants to succeed just needs to try their best and get involved.
Right now I have to get back to washing cars again....
Sounds like you know what 'hard-working' means. You are right, whoever wants to succeed needs to try their best and get involved. Have fun washing cars again....
I don't think anybody above has a website up and running yet, and we all have vastly different circumstances. I would like to buy my own home but my first target is to try to make enough money on a regular basis so my wife doesn't have to work so much. She is 58 and suffers worth arthritis and nostalgia and its off work at the moment for 6-8 weeks with swollen joints.
I feel a bit guilty that she has to work full time because i'm a bit old fashioned and believe I should be the "breadwinner" as we say in the UK. But there are many people a lot worse off than us and staying positive is definitely the key.
Good points but it does depend on how old you are and your financial circumstances. Personally if I don't get some sort of income from it within 6-9 months I could be in real trouble and time isn't on my side for the long term.
Everybody should understand though it isn't a quick fix, very few businesses of any type are an overnight success.
I'm in the same boat that your are. The thing about 6-9 months is that a lot happens in that time frame. Working on this website keeps my mind occupied working toward goals. The more I work, the more I feel satisfied that at least I am trying. If I allow myself to dwell on the circumstances, nothing is accomplished toward my goals.
The point is that if you focus on the goals you have laid out for yourself. God is big enough to handle everything else. Negative thinking never brings positivity.
This isn't a quick fix and should never be relied on to make a living, especially for anyone who is beginning. Just because I joined WA, doesn't mean I quit my actual job. Even if you are older, shouldn't mean you should rely on WA either.
With hard times like these, my grandfather was still landscaping at the age of 70. He refused to stop working until he started passing out because of his high BP. I always say, "Time never held still to wait." It always continues whether you are old or young.
How are you doing so far with WA? Getting some traffic at least? (If you don't mind me asking).
