Working Hard Or Hardly Working?

So what do you think of this title? Is Hard Work Really The Key To Success? I can only go by my own experiences and I am going to have to say no! I worked as a scaffolder in the construction industry for 20 years which has to be the hardest job there is on building sites and the closest I ever got to success is when I succeeded to leave work early without being caught or get my pay docked! SUCCESS BABY!!!

Now I have only been doing affiliate marketing for just over 6 months and I feel I have achieved much more in that time than I did in my 20 years scaffolding. It can get hard at times but not in the physical way, unless my laptop decides to crash then I start getting physical running around the house and punching walls!! DON'T PANIC GUYS AND GALS, MY WIFE AND CHILDREN ARE NOT CALLED WALLS. lol

Strength To Strength

I really found this job hard at first as I really only knew how to switch the laptop on, but that was only if my children showed me where the ON/OFF button was but being the clever boy that I was, I was able to press that button like a pro...GO ME!!!

Since pressing that button, I have gone from strength to strength and achieved much more in this short space of time than I ever imagined I would and I could not have done any of it without all your help.

The toughest part of this job for me is trying to concentrate on one project or problem at a time, I don't know about you but if I'm writing a post and doing some research I will find something else that I can do next but then I have so many ideas running through my tiny little brain that I find myself dropping what I'm doing and chasing the next project like a dog chasing it's tail going round and around till I forget......OH, did I ever tell you about the time I broke my arm falling off my...S##T!!! THERE I GO AGAIN!!!.....what I was doing in the first place.

So...Is Hard Work Really The Key To Success? I suppose it depends on what you call hard work doesn't it.

Before You Leave

If you are reading this bit then well done to you as you have just gone through the hardest work you will do all day which is listen to me rambling on, and on, and on, and on.......

I wish you all the very best with your life ahead and I hope you succeed in what you do in the easiest way possible.

Hey Matthew.

I have to agree with your sentiment. You can work hard, but it might not be efficient or the smart way to do something. I think working smart is great and you can work hard on working smarter. Great read!

Hey Shwni,
It's a great post on your personal experience.

You did it buddy. Let's work smart and not hard.

Yey...

Proven again and again. It surely is Matthew!

My definition of hard work, in my field of Legal Word Processor, is when an attorney tells you to create an obscure document and gives you no example of what language to use. Then we have to search the files for a prior document that fits their need. This takes time. And then the lawyer says, "If I knew it was going to take you this long, I would have done it myself." Arrggh!

You are a very talented writer Matthew.

I jot all of my plans down and write when my head gets full.
Nothing wrong with having many ideas going on at the same time. That's the creative juices swirling.

The answer is to embrace this as a gift but be wise in documenting whenever a thought pops up in your head.

David

Thanks, Shwni. I was about to write about distraction. I thought I was alone in going astray on the web. This web thing actually!! Lol

Have a great weekend!

You are so right, this is NOT hard work. But it is time consuming and frustrating at the same time as being totally absorbing.

I do get the bit about ideas running through the old head, we all do it (well almost all). I find that if I get an idea I write it down so that I can continue what I am doing, helps a bit.

You have made a big transition from scaffolds to desk, enjoy it and good luck.
