Don't be a Lurker - ENGAGE!
Since I joined WA in October of 2013, I have been busy with my other online projects. I was really interested in what WA had to offer because I wanted to add affiliate links to my sites, but this wasn't a priority. I put all my time and effort into my podcast and there was nothing left over.
Over the past few months I wanted to change things and put Wealthy Affiliate front and center. I was paying for this service after all, and I needed to see what value I could gain from the site. I began with going through the affiliate bootcamp course. I read a few blog posts. I joined several of the Friday evening webinars. But, I didn't engage with other people, I wasn't actively following new subscribers, I was just lurking. Even though I gained some knowledge through the training, I wasn't paying it forward.
Since March began, I decided to change that. After all, I may not be an expert when it comes to affiliate marketing, but I do know quite a few things about computers, wordpress, podcasting, google analytics, masterminds etc. I do have ways of helping others and I enjoy doing so.
Now, I read blog posts every day. You might have even seen some of my comments show up recently. A few more people have started to follow me. I answered a few questions and you know what? I am getting so much more out of WA than I ever expected! I'm helping people I've never met before, I'm learning from you and you are helping me develop my newest site.
One thing I've learned over the past 2 years of expanding my first major website is that knowing people will help you grow. Make connections, network with them. You never know what skills and insights people around you will have. You may not have a support network at home with your family or friends - they may not understand what you're trying to do. But, it's different here. This is the place for sharing ideas, asking questions and learning. Don't be afraid to reach out to me or anyone else.
It's not just the website you are building for your business. It's the people you meet and the way your experiences with those relationships shape who you are. You start to grow as a person and as an entrepreneur!
Your challenge: Go out there and engage with someone new today!

You are right!
Mixing in with the community can be a great tool, connections, connections, connections! ;) The best part is, it's also fun! It is much easier to go up to people (follow), talk to them (comment) and hear what they have to say (blogs) online than it is in the ''real'' world.
I hope to be reading more from you!
I found that blogging on here was challenging for me and I needed to get out there and try it. I appreciate you reading my first post!
Connections are so important with my growing online community of friends. I've learned so much from the guys (and gals) I've met at New Media Expo the past few years, so it's nice to meet more people here too.
Geesh - I never considered myself a lurker until reading your post. I'm so quiet behind the scenes here until it's out of character for me to just "jump right in there." Of course, I can stand in front of a crowd of a thousand and own that place! Ying-yang, ya know? You have given me the thump I needed. Thank you!
LOL. I hope I didn't leave a mark Cathy! I'm glad I was able to provide some thought provoking insight.
This has been my experience as well Shey.
You can experience exponential growth when engagement is coupled with the resources here. Thank you for this posting! Regards, damien
I think interacting with everyone here has helped keep me energized with my site, and I think it will play an important part to my success. Thanks for reading!

While you are thinking you can go and read mine? Ha!
I do not think for a moment you would suffer from loss of words?!
Hugz!
You are right..I don't suffer from a loss of words often. But the right idea worth sharing? That can be challenging. :)
Is that not why there is a delete button?? Hee-Haw!
