So, today is National Barbie Day.

What does this have to do with what we do here?

Marketing Barbie was and still is one of the most successful campaigns ever created and it should be noted and referred to for its branding, brand trust and the ability to be a recurring purchase throughout the family cycle.

Now, while you chew on that here is some good ol entertainment to help you celebrate this wonderful day! :P

Power to you for observing, and learning. This is seriously important.
No doubt the brands and companies that are iconic need to be studied. We can't expect to learn what we need to know without observing, and learning from the success and failures of others.

It is all around us :)

Ha!

:)

You gotta love YouTube in Germany...LoL (see image).

Barbie creeped me out as a kid and still does, but you got a point. Barbie is by far the most successful toy/object ever sold.

Thanks for sharing, Shawn. :)

Happy Barbies Day!

Amazing. Sorry to see they have issues there. Anyway, happy Barbie day!

Sheila

That was a nice break. Appreciate you!

:)

Thanks Shawn,

National Barbie Day...... well well, what next, are we going to have national days for Action Men, Marvel superheroes as well?

Apparently Mattel announced recently a major redesign for its most popular creation: Barbie. Three new arrivals , curvy, tall and petite versions will be available starting this spring.

I remember when my daughter went through the craze for Barbie dolls there was a young boy who was eventually nabbed for stealing the dolls from the girls homes when they weren't looking…… They didn't put him in jail but apparently he had to go for counselling...........! I kid you not!
~Arthur

My biggest memory of the dolls is having to fish their naked bodies out of the bathtub every Sat night, lol I have 2 sisters :)

How do you KNOW all this stuff, Arthur. It's bad enough that Shawn knew it was National Barbie Day. LOL!!!!
I know Barbies are VERY popular but I always thought girls had enough self worth issues without throwing this type of doll into the mix. I must be in the minority because Barbie SELLS! ~Debbi

Well Debbi, in answer to your question I can only surmise that it must have been due to me having to cater to my daughter's whims when she was going through "that" phase! (I remember my wallet taking a not insignificant beating!) To this day I can't remember how many dolls she had in her collection and I wonder where they all are today!

I recently read an article (possibly Time Magazine) about the introduction of the new more realistic body types. It appears that Mattel has finally listened to the criticism from some quarters and is beginning to act upon it……
Hugs, ~Arthur

When girls go through "that" phase, it's really tough. Barbie is everything that they want to be. It can be depressing when you look in the mirror and don't come close to measuring up. I remember weighing 80 lbs and thinking I was fat because I didn't have the same curves as those in the magazines. Of course Barbie wasn't around way back then but there have always been ads or someone unrealistic that you wanted to look like. Right now I'd settle for the old version of Linda Evans. Remember her?

Glad to hear Mattel has listened anyway. I just found it funny that you knew that of all things. BTW, I'm sure you were a great dad and she loved you for your open wallet. :-)

Hugs back to you -- ~Debbi

Hi Debbi, I must confess I had to use Google to remind myself who Linda Evans was……… Dynasty!

Thanks for the compliment re my daughter! She has grown into a fine young woman.

Hugs, ~Arthur

Yes, one of my favorite shows back in the day when I watched TV. She was so pretty!!

You're very welcome. I don't know about you but I love watching my grown up children.

Huggs ~Debbi

Likewise :-)

International Woman's Day, National Barbie Day. As a man I'm feelin a little left out. How about you. I say we petition for equal recognition.

LOL

Careful Wayne, that was considered a form of insurrection in the past!
https://goo.gl/q4s1fb
You are beginning to sound like a "male" suffragette, you could end up in jail…… Remember history is always written by the victors……… thus endeth the history lesson!

But.....wait, how about a National Ken Day or a National HOO HAW Day. I demand equal rights for men. LOL :-)

Now you are demanding............ if you really are serious about this Wayne, I suggest you emulate the ladies and go on a hunger strike!

All in good fun

Of course! ;-)

You asked for it....... https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/ken-day/

Oh My, the things us humans think are important. Some of us are in pretty bad shape

lol

Thanks for a fun day Shawn and happy belated Barbie day:-)

You have to get away from the business a bit at times, lol
