Discouraged

I am on the verge of quitting. I had no sales on my website for 180 days.

Amazon emailed me the I am going to be automatically rejected if I don't get a sale right away.

I ordered something but it doesn't count.

I honestly don't know what I am doing wrong.

So far I have been out 294.00 on WA with nothing to show for it.

Maybe it would just be better to quit. I am seriously considering it.

Sarah, I'm gonna share something with you. This past week I found out that I got my very first affiliate sale from a product I promoted on my website. It was through Amazon Associates.

This has happened 3 years after I first started at WA and created my website. I'm not getting great traffic, in fact after trying a couple of things, traffic has returned to normal, but disappointing levels. I hardly have any organic comments/engagement from anyone outside of WA on my site.

A lot of my posts aren't ranking where I thought they should after doing keyword research (that's not to say that none of my posts aren't ranking). My website as a whole is on the 5th page of Google after at one point reaching the bottom of the second page. I was booted out of Amazon Associates once before. Believe me, I have every reason to give up and quit especially after just now getting my first product promoted affiliate sale in which my commission for it is very low.

So then the question is, why haven't I quit? Because I've had successes that I wouldn't have reached had I quit. Yeah, it took me 3 years to get my very first product promoted sale (second in total from Amazon, got a sale earlier this year of an unrelated product thanks to a WA member), but I'm also earning revenue through another way as well.

I'm earning revenue through AdSense. It's not a ton and it only started happening a year ago, but this year and especially this month, it has really been increasing. I've now made in a month and then some what it took me all of last year to make from Google AdSense and the clicks seem to be increasing slowly but surely every day.

I know it is very discouraging when you work hard and don't see any of the results you were hoping for. Trust me, I've stopped working on my site before for long periods of time before other motivating factors kicked in and I started working my but off again.

Others here are definitely willing to help and would be more than happy to take a look at your site and see if they can give some helpful suggestions in regards to your website. Sometimes something as simple as changing the theme could help or just a different placement of an affiliate link or ad. You might just be surprised what small changes to a site can do to lead you to sales.

Hey Sarah, I've been where you were and I totally get how you feel. You want a return on your investment and It can be frustrating at times when you don't see the results you want.

What I did when I was frustrated was snooped around inside WA to see other training when I had time off from the training inside WA.

I think this training will help you. As for Amazon, you can always apply again if they reject you. Do not feel like it's the end of the world if you get rejected from Amazon. Just keep adding content and apply again.

Another tip I'd like to give to you is to place your site in site feedback

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/website-feedback

This way you can have other eyes look at your website and give you feedback on your business.

You are building a business and sometimes you have to assess why in whatever angle to your business that you want to improve upon.

On a good note, I noticed you ask a lot of questions and even express your frustrations and this is all good.

Hang in there! :)

Hello Sarah
ask one of your friends to buy from amazon and you can even pay them back in case they don't need something.
But if you don't make a sale, reconsider why how many visitors do you have each day and check how long they stay, which page they stay longer and improve your site. Ask people to rate your site, even your friends or kids let them look at it and surf on it and they will tell you what they do not like and what they like. Don't quit

It seems hopeless, you say?

I have been doing this much longer than I have been involved with WA and I do not have a lot to show for it, but, I think about all of the 'words' I have out there with my name on them.

If I just leave, where will everyone who looks those words up go to to find me?

Hi Sarah! I'm sorry your having a hard time. I hope you don't quit. I know all to well how you feel though. Maybe you just need a new niche. In all honesty I don't know if anyone really makes money being an amazon affiliate. I signed up 2 different times and never made anything. I got a call from them the other day wanting me to pay more money to keep website because it hadn't made money. A website that by the way I told them to shut down months ago. Amazon is too picky. We can't order ourselves to keep site up, they monitor you and if they think your sales are coming from friends or family they hold that against you. I don't see what difference it makes but they don't like it. I refuse to be an affiliate through them. I shop there but thats it now. Amazon is one of those very high competition sites because there are too many people doing it. Find your passion. If you find something you are very passionate about that's where you find your niche and have a lot of success with that. I truly believe this. I hope this helps. Please don't give up.

Best wishes

Barbara

Hi there I feel for you. I only started here and im nowhere near where need to be. Things are hard for you because You probably are getting pink tinted sunglasses feedback on your Web. Some one need to pick on you in most nicest way. This is What i ll be asking for hard core feed back. Anyway I m planning to start completely new topic if this one wont fly. Hope this helps.

Don't give up. It may be that you need to re-think your niches and/or your monetizing approach. Why don't you list your websites on your profile? I would love to take a look and share my '6-weeks' of affiliate marketing experience with you:) I can certainly give you my thoughts as a potential consumer.

Just hoping to help a litte - but not too experienced. However, I have committed to being into affiliate marketing for the long haul.

Sarah,

I am certainly not an expert on fashion for women but here are a few ideas I might use on your website.

Even though branding yourself can be important, it seems like you might benefit from a domain name that speaks more to your niche.

When I went into some of your pages I could not find a home page option to go back without using the back arrow. Might be nice to have that in your menu.

I am all for white space (Kyle's training) but with fashion you are competing against a glossy world. I would look to have a color header background with maybe an image and I would make your images larger throughout your website. With fashion, I would think you really want to make it pop.

Your content looks good.

If your branding yourself, put a photo of you on the about me page.

Have you thought of using Google Adsense or other affiliate partners that pay per click rather than sales. I would get load big, splashy ads for products that you 'endorse.' I know it is a delicate balance but your site seemed a bit advertising light. I know because I feel the same about my sites. Just haven't quite figured out the design angle yet.

Again, normally I guess I would be more subdued in my approach with websites but it seems like fashion is awful competitive and your presentation needs to grab em.

Hope this helps -- at least a little. I am new to all this as well.

Have a good day.

Thank you for the suggestions. They make sense to me and I will apply them to my website.

I've been with WA for almost 7 months and I haven't had any referrals. I've had one Amazon associates sale (and it was right before my account was to be closed because of no sales in 6 months) but you will get there. I've noticed I've gotten many raw clicks which means someone has been clicking on my WA banner link. hopefully, that will mean a referral soon.

Hi, I wish I knew enough to help you with an answer, but I am still working my way through Kyle's training stage by stage. Nowhere near making money yet, but am determined to get there here at WA.

I am pretty convinced that I wouldn't find a better place to learn these skills. I just keep looking for relevant trainings and going back around and re-tweeking stuff til it works!! Quite often it can be really monotonous, but just keep asking! I do wish you a 'lucky break' and hope you find just what you are looking for ... soon! Keep going, it will be worth it, Sue :)

Sarah this community has expert training and many knowledgeable members who can mentor. The internet is also filled with thousands of tips and other programs than Amazon. Some that haven't gotten so high and mighty may have better opportunities. There are many reasons to keep on. Quitting may feel good on the spur of the moment but then where are you?
