Progress:

Its been an interesting couple of days.

Firstly my rankings on WA have improved and i am ranked at 101 today. I just keep getting surprised here.

I have finished course 4 certification and it has got me little puzzled. Basically i am in an electronic niche of smart tv, so Kyle suggested in social marketing to focus on engaging and creating a following. I will explain my dilemma with an simple example.

Eg.

When do you buy a Television ?

You buy it when you start feeling that your television is outdated, and needs care and servicing, and maybe its picture quality and contrast rations have went bad.

What do you do ?

You decide to purchase a new television, and visit a store, or research it online, and decide to purchase it. It means that the customer is coming to the shop themselves, they know what type of shop they want to go, since they are interested in buying electronic products they go to an electronic shop or website that sells those electronic products.

Basically when people search on google , they already have to a certain degree decided wether they want to buy a television or not, or they are inclining towards buying a television, that means they are interested in the niche.

But with social media there is no targeted audience. There are just random people out there , you don't know if these people will be interested in the niche or not. Its like aiming with full confidence in full darkness. You might hit the target, but 8 out of 10 you are going to miss that target.

So it kind of made me wonder would the time better be spent on creating content for potential customers or for people who are not guaranteed to be interested in your niche.

Mostly i have decided to focus on twitter , google plus and pinterest, and see how it goes from there.

Other than this i am making good progress, getting help from the community and doing as much as i can to help others.

Do share your views.

Android App:

As a project i made a news application. What this news application does is displays tech and science news from the UK website called "The Guardian". I basically use their api for grabbing the news from their data bases and displaying it in the format i like here.

I wanted to share few screenshots of the app here, and wanted to know your opinion on it, and wether i should publish it or not, or simply said wether it is publishable quality or not, and importantly wether people will want to use it or not ,sharing few screenshots below, your opinion will really help me.

Thank you

Nice and informative blog. Jay

Very interesting. I am so not a techie so when I see people doing stuff like this, truly impresses me. I wish you all the luck with this venture. Looks great! My only question is what does your app offer that people can't get from the Guardian app themselves, I am assuming it's going to be a paid app, so what sets you apart from the free press apps that places like the Guardian have?

The guardian has loads of news, while the mobile screen real estate is very limited. The main usp of my app is that the technology and science data is categorised in most relevant categories.
If you visit the guardian app, there is a lot of news and you might consider it broad niche. Where as my app is targeted towards technology and science news only, so it is narrowed down niche.

It has a simple and clean interface and so it is easy to follow and navigate and read. Where as there are so so many categories of news in the guardian that it might get overwhelming to find news related to a topic a person is interested in like science and tech news. Add to that there is lot of navigation to search for news.

So this app is for only science and technology with various sub categories. I am planning to create similar apps for politics, entertainment , sports. All these are main topics, and in them i can have sub categories. So in politics i can have sub categories like politics in uk, politics in india, politics in japan etc. similarly i can have sub categories in sports for various sports, so that the user can navigate easily and read follow things easily.

Its not a paid app, but i might add google advertising in it.
Thank you for your reply and opinion, it means a lot to me.

I was just testing you anyways, sometimes people get lost in projects that they forget their core value and mission. I think you have everything you need to succeed, I wish you all the best, you're certainly good at it.

Very impressive!!!! You are doing a super job..keep it up!!!

Thank you , i appreciate your encouraging comments.

Did you have look at the screenshots of the app i have created, do you think people might want to download it ? Does it look professional and publishable ?

It looks very professional and polished. I would think that anyone would want to download these. They look sooo good...you should be very proud....

Thank you so much for your input, means a lot, i am planning to make similar apps for sports , entertainment, politics, Business, Health. And i will add google admob advertisement in each one of them , basically i am categorising news , so that users interested in specific topics can navigate easily. Categorisation is the usp for the app, i am planning to categorise similarly for all the other topics, may be i can earn from that as well.

You are amazing!!! No longer than you have been here and you aren't even through the training yet...and you are doing all of this...you are truly awesome!! Keep me updated on what you are doing. I am very interested to watch your progress!1

Congratulations on your ranking!!! and thanks for all your help.

Well, I see your point on this. I like how you have it thought out. I'm not a techie person like I used to--maybe you could figure out how to rewire my brain from all the misfires due to my seizures! But, seriously, you could market to either one. Is there a way you can create the queries for both--if not interested-end, if interested-continue....? Just a thought.

Best wishes for your success with this.

Hey
To be frank i am not a techie, its just that in India its that , you either become an engineer or a doctor, i became an engineer, hence i have little knowledge in this field hehe.

I don't know how to put out these queries to both , interested and uninterested people, i guess in this regard twitter will be far more helpful since you can use various trending hash tags across various cities and countries, and make a reach to them. I am personally unsure how it to target followers on facebook.

I personally hate the word "target" , as a customer i don't want to be targeted by a marketer, similarly i don't want to "target" other people looking to buy stuff, i want it to be a mutually helpful relation.

It is not helpful to fret over this, this is a later part when i start getting decent traffic on my website. The first part is about creating helpful content and getting traffic. None the less thank you for your opinion, i appreciate it.
