Never rains does it!
I'm sure I'm not the only one to have days like today!
When you're that tired, stop wasting your time!
After a mostly sleepless night, certain 20 year olds can leap up and seemingly perform a functional day. You cross that 40 barrier, and that's just not going to happen.
These are the days I'm extremely grateful I work for myself. I don't even want to imagine making important decisions when my brain is fog and my eyes feel like scratch pads.
What I mean is, if your time is your own, and you are THAT tired - stop starting at the screen, and go get some sleep - you'll make bad decisions anyway, and I strongly believe that the energy you bring to the process is essential to a successful business.
This is also of course the day, that one discovers...
* that your email isn't functioning
* that your name servers have just been changed to the wrong place after waiting for 3 days for them to propagate
* that the goats got into your veggie garden ;-)
So my advice changes.
Get the goats out of the veggie garden ... and THEN go back to bed.
Your problems will still be there when you wake up, hopefully refreshed, but you'll deal with them in a more sane and systematic way.
And when you're ill?
While I'm on the topic, something I take serious umbrage to is people pitching up for work with the worst case of double pneumonia and the snots you've ever had to listen to. They're doing you a favor see.... In this case sharing is not caring!!!
When you have the flu, you can't focus, can't be efficient or effective, and generally have only one use - to spread germs around. Keep them to yourself, get better quickly and return once your body is able to function without pain. It's not brave or admirable to keep going!
So did the sleep help?
I was planning on an hour, and eventually woke up after 3 hours - which is also relatively irresponsible, but man did I feel better!
So much so, that both the email and server issues are now sorted with minimal drama, and that goat is looking at me with a disgusted expression... eating grass!

You are so right. When you are sick or sleep deprived you get brain fog. Bad decisions seem like good ones and a task that should take 15 minutes can take an hour and may have to redone once your back to normal. Stuart.
