I must be trying too hard. :(
I'm having a personal...content issue. I am a bit wary of putting myself out here with my personal experiences and opinions and suggestions and recommendations and everything else in between. I am trying to come to terms with the fact that though I might be welcomed here with open arms, I am still subject to criticism and even scrutinization, despite it being constructive and with good intentions. I don't know too many people here who haven't been successful without first being personal; I think "success" and "personal" go hand-in-hand, since your audience should know who you are and where you're coming from. Especially if you plan on offering a product or something that requires their trust.
My main issue is finding my blasted niche. It should be as simple as picking something that I have interest in, researching it, picking it apart so I can put it back together, and then presenting what I find and ultimately offering a solution to go with it. I honestly have been trying to figure out what I have an interest in, because as of late, I've been feeling a lot like driftwood, with no real destination or purpose in life. Are any of you at this point? Or have you reached it and then successfully found a way around it? If you have, please let me know how or what you did to get past it. :) I know it's all in my head; I just haven't found my way to get around it.

Well said OneFineHam.
Hi Sakura and thanks for the buddy add and stopping by my page. The hardest part about my efforts other than making the time, has been the thought and the questions surrounding "putting myself out there". Not necessarily redefining myself but defining myself in the first place. It triggers a lot of things. Anyway, as I have debated myself the last couple of months I have set aside time to study the mechanics and the business itself. My sort of identity crisis will work itself out over time and almost has but in the meantime I am learning and will have the know how and How to fairly soon. Stick with the training and pick something easy to train on. Cheers, Dano
Writers/ideas block is the WORST! I recently went through a bout of it myself. I wound up catching on to a new STRATEGY rather than a new NICHE.
Try looking at your problems from a different view-point. Maybe if you decide HOW you want to market (based on your skillset) maybe the right NICHE will make itself obvious.
Hi. It is a challenge to light on just the right thing which is the reason I decided to go with an aspect of my land based business. It seems like a no brainer. At least I can write with some authority. There is a lot of experimentation with niches, which is part of affiliate marketing. Gives you a chance to try things out without too much expense. I think the trick is not to be too precious about it. Just choose something, do keyword research, put up a landing page and write a couple articles. I like to research ideas at Barnes and Noble. You sit in one of those cozy chairs and go through magazines. I even buy some of them too. Don't worry about asking questions of the folks here. They really want to help. You can always PM them.
This is truly a safe environment. The WA family worldwide continue to exceed my high expectations. If you would like some more privacy, please feel free to shoot me a PM and I will gladly help be a blessing with your niche research.
Oh I can SO relate to that! I still haven't found the perfect niche, and partly that's because I just have too many interests. I love languages, pets, eating (can't cook though *lol*), reading, video games, the list could go on and on and on. It's really hard to pick something that you like and that's profitable without first spending a ton of time on it.
So I've decided to do it in 3 parts: I pick something i REALLY like (books in my case), something I know works well (a "big" niche, ex. something health-related) and some physical product that I like (and that people actually buy). And then I'll try all three of them and see what works best/is most fun.
I haven't decided on anything specific yet but it gets clearer the more I think about it. What really helped was thinking on it for a while and then turning "off" by going for a walk or doing something completely different. An idea usually comes when I wash the dishes for example *lol*
This, I have found to be one of the best places I have ever found in any online membership! Yes, when posting to a large membership like here at WA you are going to get praise and criticism for just about anything you write about. The difference between here and in other online memberships is that (in my opinion) I've found that WA draws in a certain kind of folk (not to be to specific here, but in many of the other online memberships, such as the Warrior Forum, people are not afraid to come so low down on individuals for what they write as "morons," and other undesirable names! Not that it has never happened here, but there are too many people in places like that who think they are God's gift to humanity and there is far less toleration for someone who goes on there and writes something some of these people think is too elemental or naive. Choosing a niche is the initial chore of anyone seeking entrepreneurship. No worries...it will come to you in time. One of the most common exercises I've seen in self-help packages is to get a sheet of paper (or you can use NotePad for this,) enumerate your interests and passions. What do you want in life? Put 'em all down. Put this down the left side of the page. On the right, ask yourself why you want this. Write your answers down. Put the time into this that it requires to begin seeing things. Put the page away. Repeat the process a few days later. Do not consult your original page. After you've compiled the second round, then compare. How are the different? What persists? You will begin finding niches. Hope this helps!
