Time Well Spent: How do you spend your time building your business?

When I first joined WA 9 days ago, I had the luxury of having a bit of time to really put all my energy into building my foundation. Both of the businesses were slow and we had the staff we needed to manage our daily working life. It was only a week, but I took full advantage of that gift. I literally focused an inordinate amount of time in that first week on WA education and foundation building.

In the past two days the luxury of having that time has ended. For now.

With some key staff on vacation at the bar, I will now be bartending on a full time basis. I will be needing to focus on all the other details that make a bar run smoothly. Ordering, Accounting, Scheduling Etc.

We also have some charters coming up for the boat. So once again, I will be sailing, cooking, dishwashing, cleaning, and managing the office.

My guy's elderly father suddenly requires an immense amount of care. We've spent many hours a day in helping him with some basic care. And I'm so glad we're doing it.

We also have a storm brewing in the Atlantic that could make it very nasty for us in Anguilla, so there are major preparations in our future. Securing our house, our father's home and our bar. Getting the boat to a safe place - perhaps 9 miles away, perhaps 450.

All of these things are taking me away from building my WA business. But that''s life.

To be fully human and present, we MUST attend to life in the moment, and sometimes, even though we don't like it, we HAVE TO BE PRESENT.

So WA will take a back seat. For now.

But, that doesn't mean I can't still be making the most of my free time on building the foundations to my future.

There are so many moments in the day, even if it's only five minutes, that I can spend on my personal and financial growth within the WA community.

If you've ever had the joys of banking in the Caribbean, then you know that you've got some time to kill. With generally only two tellers on duty, and a line of people to the door, believe me, there is time to spend on WA. I used to spend it wasting time on FB and other social media sites. But now, I do business.

So it's hard to write a blog, or create a new webpage, but I can check out the live chat and help someone who needs it. I can take that time to educate myself with all the blogs and tutorials on this site. Depending on the length of that bank queue, sometimes I only have time to just like a comment, or welcome a new member. But I'm staying active, and I'm continuing to grow and develop.

We all have moments like this in our day. Moments when we're waiting. To get home, to go through the check-out at the grocery, moments to kill.

I just spent 7 minutes writing this post. I can't work on my webpage, check my keywords and build my site right now. I need a bit more time to really think and plan that aspect of it.

But I do have time to write this. I do have time to kill.

So tell me. How are you planning on killing time?

Hey Deb,
Sorry about all the hustle and bustle, but I am sure you are
used to it. You are exhibiting the skills needed to get it done.
Good luck with all you have to do and most of all - Stay SAFE!
Chers,
ken

Thanks Ken,
Yes, I am used to it. The difference is that now I want to spend time on something that really feeds me - in so many beautiful ways.

Hey Deb,
Thanks for the like and the comments. I know what you mean
sort of the new comfort zone that allows for that.
Cheers,
Ken

Great post, wish I had time to kill, to Bizzy

Nice!

Ah, island life in the Caribbean. You really do have to live in the present, especially this time of year with the ever threat of a tropical storm or hurricane. Glad to hear that things have turned around, which usually does happen. Do not talk about the banking.

Sounds like you've been in a bank or two here. Don't even get me started about the post office!

Great post - life can, and DOES, get in the way but we have to keep focused. All the best with what you have going on :)

Thanks friend!

I am lucky Sailin, I do not work so I have most of my day to work on my business. I am a single Dad which takes a big chunk of my time but when he is off to school I have the day to myself.
Love the way you use your time. They say if you want something done, give it to a busy person. You are that person.
Cheers Kev

Thanks so much Kev! love that you're telling me this. One of my future blog posts on www.inependentwomanworldwide.com is going to be about single dads raising independent daughters! I hope you'll have some time to read the blog first and give me your thoughts. Mimd you, the site still has to be built and so many other things have to be in place before I write that!

I look forward to reading your blog. Tried to go to your site but the link is broken.
Keep my up to date on your sites. Cheers Kev
