WP theme Estrella, help needed please
Has anyone here used the WP theme 'Estrella' please? I have spent a good part of the day customising it to my site as the theme I currently have doesn't really fit my niche. When I went live, the photo sliders were the default ones and therefore nothing to do with my niche! I had assumed (WRONG!) that by leaving them blank they wouldn't appear, but to my horror and dismay they did. Is ther a way to disable them that will not affect the performance of the site?
Everything else about it is just lovely, so if anyone is familiar with another similar themem please suggest it. All the colours, headers, footers and everything are customisable and I'm just devastated :'-(
Hoping someone out there can help please!
Thank you

I'm terribly sorry to hear about your problem with the theme. I know how frustrating it can be especially when you have put a lot of work into building it. I'm sorry.
I have not specifically worked with Estrella. I did a quick google search for the problem and it doesn't seem like too many people are having that problem so hopefully, it's an easy fix.
I would contact the creator to get help. This might take some time to get a reply.
Or you could also have someone else who understands WordPress take a look at your backend to find out what's going on. Might be quicker.
Good luck!
Hi Steven
Thank you so much for your concern and advice, it means a lot to me! I really appreciate you taking time to google the issue as well and I'm encouraged to hear that this is not a major issue as far you can see. I'm going to head over to the wordpress area on WP and see what I can find.
Warmest regards
Alison

Try finding an option for Slider or Widget Areas and remove everything (not just leaving them blank). If that doesn't work and you absolutely love your theme, then you might want to look into its Premium version.
Most of the time, Premium unlocks many new layouts and options. When I bought my Premium theme, I noticed I could finally change all the font sizes and colours, turn the blog roll into a Pinterest-like grid, add sliders, customize different menus and add TONS of widgets (if I wanted them).
Sometimes, clicking on the Upgrade to Premium button in your theme customization window will take you to the designer's website where you'll be able to see all the options that come with it. I don't think any theme forces you into using a slider, at least not Premium versions.
I have attached a screenshot of the options available to me as a Premium theme. It's not the same as yours but it may give you an idea. Notice how I can have TWO sliders, and the Frontpage Modules section lets me put widgets in about 8 different areas including above the blog posts, next to the top logo, etc.
Hope this helps :)
Hi Vicky,
Thanks for the info and the encouragement, I really appreciate it! Strangley after starting to add some photos, which I didn't really want but needed to replace the default ones, I then deleted them, because they simply didn't fit with the personality of the site, the problem seems to have gone away! At least when I look at it they are not there. There is however a white strip where they were and although it's not ideal, I may just be able to 'style it out' lol
I will take your advice and look at Premium and also check out the designer as well. I think I need to head over to the 'All things Wordpress' help section because although it looks great on my laptop, the mobile version is nowhere near as attractive as my previous theme and frankly most people are accessing the web on their phones these days so I feel it is a priority to make sure my theme is smartphone friendly.
Thanks again for all your kind advice.
Have a gorgeous day!
Alison
