Inspirational "things" that made you take action
If you've read my profile you know I have been around internet marketing for a long time. Like many of you, I spent $1,000's trying to find the "best way" to become successful online.
I would buy a product/training program which I believed would solve my problem. In each case I would start with the best intentions. Inevitably I would run into some obstacle or lose interest. Then, I would buy another problem solver. Over the years I've bought over 15,000 solutions to my problems.
Many were great products but I wasn't prepared mentally to use them to their fullest. Some were too advanced for me because I didn't have the needed foundation to utilize them properly.
Some were garbage but they helped me understand the internet marketer's mindset. When you are drowning, you'll reach out to anyone or anything you believe will save you. I was saved over 15,000 times but never learned to swim.
It does no good to buy a program to increase traffic if you have no website to send them to. Learning to build your own product is useless unless you have the platform and knowledge to promote it. I could go on and on but I think you understand what I'm getting at.
To start on the road to success you must have an epiphany. Epiphanies come in many forms. It could be an article or book you read, a movie you saw, a song you heard, a real life experience that shook you to your soul, or a number of other "things" which change your life.
In my case it took a combination of things, happening in just the right order, for me to have that "aha" moment. I finally understood and accepted what I had been doing wrong for so many years. It was my epiphany.
Everyone's "shining moment" is different. You don't plan for it, you can't seduce it. it just happens. How do you know when it happens? Trust me, you will know. The fog of confusion and uncertainty will be lifted. Your idea, goal, and a clear path to fruition will become crystal clear. Gone are the doubts and frustration, Gone are the naysayers. Gone is anything standing between you and your goal. What a glorious feeling!
I want to share my "things" with you. Don't expect them to be your epiphany. We are all different. We have different ideas, goals, and methods to reach our goals. This is my epiphany, not yours. I will share it but you can't have it. It belongs to me and me alone.
If you want to know what my "things" were, you can send an email to...
Just kidding. The "things" that led to my epiphany were:
1. I am a long time subscriber to International Living's email list I have never subscribed to their magazine but enjoy reading their emails.
2. I downloaded and listened to Tim Ferriss' book, The 4 Hour Workweek..
3. I read the article, Manifesto for the "Uber Economy" by Tom Kerr.
4. The icing on the cake was a U-tube video by Earl Nightingale titled, The Strangest Secret.
If you enjoyed this post, please share your "thing" with the community.

I am a long time subscriber to International Living's email list and do not get the magazine. LOL Ecuador with in 2 years for me.
My ahh1 hah1 moment was years ago when I looked at what I was doing on the Internet and it made no sense.
If some one had come and sat at my kitchen table and offered me what I was buying on the Internet I would of run them off.
That enlightenment back in 2000 of the fact that for each product showing you how to make money someone does make money but usually not me was a game changer.
Do what makes sense and if it smells like BS it is BS.
Once you came to that realization did you take action to become a successful marketer or just stop trying? The reason I ask is out of curiosity. Have you reached your goal? If not. why not?
My "thing" has been Wealthy Affiliate.
I spent the same amount money as you did looking for something I could do on-line. I did not get anything except frustrated.
I am thrilled here at WA. The training, education and the philosophy behind the program are first class.
I am as proud of Kyle and Carson as if they were my own sons!
As I told Kyle and Carson, their Mom's should be patting themselves on their backs! They raised their boys to give back. Isn't that awesome!!!!
It took my epiphany to join WA. I agree that WA and its caring community will be the impetus to reach my goal.

Rudy, thank you for sharing your "things".
For me it's a combination of
1) Tim Ferriss' books, podcast and seeing him at a live event
2) John Saddington - who ran an online workshop 12 weeks to better blogging - which introduced me to blogging
3) Google - without which I would never have WA
Thanks for a great post and Have a wonderful day :)
Thanks for sharing Brendan. At what point did you switch from I can do this to I will do this?
Two weeks ago when I joined WA
