I Am Back From A Short Writing Ban At Wealthy Affiliate!
On Friday evening I went to open my Wealthy Affiliate account and discovered a message that said; "your write access has been revoked by admin"! I must admit I was surprised to see the message and didn't really expect it to happen to me. I am aware that this has happened to other members, I believe it may be more of a technical issue rather than members deliberately going against the rules.
I immediately sent an email to support, I actually thought at the time it may be due to a billing issue. As when I clicked on "your write access has been revoked by admin" it immediately took me to my billing page! I actually pay annually, however, my billing page still shows that I am a monthly member which creates a few issues! I actually tried making an extra payment, however, this still didn't remove my writing ban.
Thankfully, by Sunday evening, I had heard from support, my account was unlocked and I can now write again! So my write ban was literally around 48 hours.
No one in their right mind wants to receive a write ban. However, although it may be disappointing, the great news is that we still have access to all the training! In some ways, you could say that it's an opportunity to really focus on moving your business forward! I'm trying to look at the situation in a positive way!
After carrying out a search on Google, I discovered a few articles about writing bans on Wealthy Affiliate. Apparently, the best way to have your writing ban removed is to send a message via https://wealthyaffiliate.com/contact.
I found an article online from Nathaniell who made some very interesting points. One of the points Nathaniell made that was quoted from Carson, is that if we are reported more than 10 times for spam, we will receive a write ban. I don't know how long a spam comment lasts on our account? I will have been a member for seven years in November, so maybe the spam comments build up over a period of time?
I believe I know why I was banned, I won't go into many details here, but I believe a member did not like the response I gave when they answered my question! It's actually fairly easy to mark something as spam if a member really wants to. The only time I mark a member as spam is if they are deliberately and blatantly going against the rules and abusing the platform!
I would just like to apologise here if I have offended anyone, I certainly don't mean to deliberately be unkind or offend anyone. There are times when we need to respond very directly and be straight to the point. However, please don't take this personally, we are part of a great community and we are here to help each other.
Just remember that we also have to be careful in this community regarding talking about politics and religion, which I fully understand! It's also good to remember that Wealthy Affiliate is all about creating an online business, it's good to keep our blog posts and questions on point! It's not a social media platform!
Thank you for reading.

I received a reply in a different way Roy.
Deleted comments on my post that did NOT violate WA rules.
My post easily should have been in the Top 10 based on comments/likes, but you will only see my post I did a few minutes later with much less comments/links showing up in the Top 10.
Its obvious censorship and this comment might bite the dust as well.
I've had enough. I will move on.
Mel
I really appreciate your efforts, Mel, thank you so much, it is appreciated.
I've no idea how the top 10 blogs work, I have always wondered what makes the top 10 blogs. I have not written a blog post for ages, partly because of being busy and secondly because I like to reply to everyone who comments, and that takes time! So I didn't even know if my blog post would make the top 10!
I really don't know how censorship et cetera, writing bans work? However, I think we need to be careful as in general Wealthy Affiliate is a really friendly platform with a lot of people commenting in writing. I guess it must take a lot of housework to keep on top of everything and keeping everything clean.
My guess is that it is some technical issue rather than personal. However, something needs to be done about members who are just marking comments or posts as spam. This is just wrong. I appreciate it's good to have good manners, but at the same time, we need to be able to speak our mind within reason.
I hope you will not be moving on from Wealthy Affiliate Mel as I value your input and I know many others do. Hopefully, the dust will settle soon.
Guess what; I spent a few hours in Wealthy Affiliate yesterday and then received another writing ban! It's literally just been lifted again!
The fact is that I see very few negative comments about this platform, so it's hard to understand why people are being write banned! The only time I normally use the spam button is when I see a member who is advertising escort services, I have seen that a few times and similar things!
Once again, I really do appreciate your efforts, thank you.
Roy
Thanks Roy for taking the time to reply.
I will most likely move on. I will stop posting and focus on my business(es).
The community is the only thing that kept me here this long. That and being here for free since my referrals basically pay for my membership.
Mel
I think there should be like and dislike Botton rather than a spam button. The only time I have spammed any one was on my website and that’s because some sent me a disgusting sex responses. I’ve had two so far.
It's a pleasure, Mel!
It's definitely good to focus on our business, reading blog posts and commenting can become quite addictive! However, it's also good to have like-minded people with who we can communicate. Working in front of the screen all day can sometimes become lonely, it's good to be able to chat with people.
I do hope you make the right decision.
Have a great day.
Roy
That's not a bad idea Yvonne! It certainly seems far too easy to use the spam button! You did the right thing with the messages on your website, there is no need for that type of comment.
Roy
I think that the spam button is good to have, but WA should be checking to make sure it is warranted before applying it. This might mean speaking to both parties and perhaps giving a warning. It should not, as appears, be an automated process. Especially as you have every right to reply to a comment made on your post.
Thank you for your very true and wise words Geoffrey, that makes a lot of sense indeed.
Have a great day.
Roy
Good morning Lisa,
If you look across to the right of every comment, there is a grey arrow that opens a drop-down menu. Within that menu, you can either edit a comment, delete or report spam.
I hope this helps.
Have a great day.
Roy
I'm glad you were able to sort it out. I can't imagine you saying anything that would warrant a valid "spam". I think that button is often used improperly. Sadly It seems I remember Kyle mentioning something about looking into it. I'm sure he has better things to do. Anyway, water under the bridge. Welcome back.
Debbi
I agree; water under the bridge, but if it continues it will eventually flood. I had two blog posts really mess up tonight. I had to type them twice. The screen went haywire; it was awful. I do think there is a glitch in the system; I really do. This isn't the first time this has happened. Anyone else?
Good morning Debbi,
Thank you for commenting on my blog post, it's appreciated.
I appreciate your kind words, I think the majority of us here try and write in a good way.
I guess with so many members at Wealthy Affiliate it's difficult to take control of everything. Hopefully, Kyle and Carson will look into the issue in a deeper way.
Have a great day.

48 hours is awesome, Roy!
I was blocked in 2017, and trying to get back was nearly impossible.
3 months passed before I figured out how to get message to support.
Messed my blogging flow.
I'm glad they have worked on this problem.
The bummer was, they didn't know why I should have been blocked.
I'm glad your was an easy fix.
Barb
Hello Barbara,
Thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog post, that's appreciated.
It seems like writing bans have been going on for a long time! Three months is a long time to be banned from writing and losing access to support! I'm glad you found a way eventually! Have you started blogging again now?
Interestingly enough, my write ban was lifted and then I had another ban within 24 hours, thankfully that was lifted 24 hours later!
Have a great weekend.
Roy
