Can We Have An AI Slop Button?
I must admit I was delighted to read Jay's blog post, which was entitled "Stop AI-Ing For Pennies In Wealthy Affiliate!" Jay was talking about people who are deliberately putting up AI blog posts, that are not being made their own, and then earning with AI trash. To me that's, very unfair, as people are taking advantage of the earning system at Wealthy Affiliate.

It was good that Kyle responded with another post, regarding the official posting rules, which will ban this type of content.

We have a "report spam button", I think we need an "AI slop button"! What do you think? Please leave a comment and join in the discussion.
Thank you for watching.

Good idea, Roy although I guess it would need some policing. Investigating adainst some kind of standards.
The problem I have with AI slop is that most (if not all) AI tools are built on historical data. Even data a minute ago is historical data, although often more useful that last year's ideas. This means that as AI continues to incorporate (train itself?) on historical data, albeit some just a few minutes old, then it's at risk of building a knowledge base of slop on top of slop. At risk of adding repetition to it's databases. So there's a strong possibility that AI, if it learns the way a human brain does, will regurgitate even more, well-reinforced slop.
However, I don't really know if this is a possibility because I don't know enough about AI tech...
;-)
Richard
That's very true, Richard, something like this would need to be handled with care and consideration.
That's interesting about the historical data, I felt that the later editions of ChatGPT have been more up to date, but that's not based on facts, that's just based on what I thought, or felt. It will be interesting to see how accurate AI becomes in the future. If it's regurgitating content from the Internet and then it starts to regurgitate AI content, that's not going to be particularly clever!
Please don't get me wrong, AI, really is a wonderful tool, however, there are some times when we just have to write things ourselves. I think Wealthy Affiliate blogging is a fine example of this, where we should be talking about a genuine experience, whether it's a struggle or a win. In this way, we can all learn and also help each other.
I do find it amazing when someone writes a full AI post and then the comments are AI comments, then the original author replies with another, AI comment! There is absolutely no point in that whatsoever!
Great video Roy, and it sounds like an excellent idea to me! Just a flag so that some further investigation could be done by the WA team. I think that would make the platform far more enjoyable than it currently is. I know that I personally have been less engaged here of late because of the volume of AI-slop (which I’d previously been thinking of as AI drivel).
I thoroughly enjoy reading about people’s personal experiences, so hopefully we see more of a return to that.
Cheers,
Melissa
Thank you, Melissa, I appreciate you taking the time to watch it and comment!
It may make people think before they put AI drivel, or AI slop, on the platform!
Yes, flagging would be a great idea. Let's hope that the new rules minimise this AI slop.
I agree with you, Melissa, it's encouraging to see people documenting the journey and hearing success stories, etc. We can learn so much from others, when we can engage properly with them.
Have a great weekend.
Roy
Hi, Roy.
I kind of agree with both you and Brad.
Maybe there can be an AI-Slop button. But it only points a flag for Kyle and the crew to check it out. Not something that arbitrarily designates it as AI-Slop. Only if Kyle and the crew decide if it is AI-Slop will anything be done with it.
On the flip-side if someone does get AI-Slop button happy, and the majority to all of these "Flags" are found to be false alarm, then the person doing it gets dealt with.
JD
Who’s to choose between AI Slop and someone that has an authentic writing style that appears to be AI.
Someone might get AI Slop Button Happy and go on a Reporting Rampage.
Perhaps more education like ya did here, Roy. Maybe the community will learn the ways of non-AI generated content.
AI is out of control.
Imagine when AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) hit’s popularity.
I know what you are saying, Brad, but in general terms, I can spot AI! However, on the other hand, I do know of people, who use AI, but they really do make it their own.
I always like to think that people use these buttons fairly, but maybe I'm wrong. For example, I only ever use the spam button here, and I genuinely think that someone is spamming the platform.
I think content will do a complete circle, Brad, as people want to read and hear genuine and real stories. So, for example, if I am reading a review about Wealthy Affiliate, I really want to hear someone's genuine experience, not AI's experience.
I appreciate you taking the time to comment, thank you.
I hope to be in touch with you in the next few days.
Roy

A fantastic idea Roy! I initiated a stop spam button a while back which prevents me from receiving... well, AI spam from the most dominant AI spammers on the platform (I got this tip from Eric, but couldn't say how to do it again)!
Some still slide through.... but it's much better than before!!
Enjoy a fabulous weekend my friend! :-))
Thank you, Nick, I hope that you're doing well.
Yes, I remember Eric talking about the subject and I did exactly the same thing, Nick! It's on the settings area, there is a button at the top and the bottom of each blog post, which says hide content like this or report spam.
I agree with you, it's definitely helped, but there are some persistent offenders!
You too, Nick, enjoy France.
Roy
Persistent offenders will always persist and offend unfortunately my friend....
We must stay clear of them when possible!!
Enjoy Greece!!! :-)))
Nick!! :--))
That's very true, Nick!
I just had a quick glance at the top 10 blog posts, there is still a daily offender on there!
I couldn't agree more, Nick, we definitely need to avoid! The best thing people can do is to stop commenting on these type posts, it will then make them totally irrelevant!
I'm actually in the UK at the moment, Nick, still trying to sell my house. Let's see what happens!
It was 25° C yesterday in northern Greece, the feel like factor in this part of the UK, yesterday, was 2° C, first thing in the morning, fortunately the sun came up. That's a big difference in temperatures!
Have a great weekend, Nick and thank you for commenting.
Roy
The daily offender(s) will always be there Roy.... as long as people keep commenting there!
Best of luck selling your house... shouldn't be too hard though from the area that you are in???
We hit 21°c this week here, but.... it's been a little chillier the last few days from a lack of sun and near constant rain. ....
The ducks are loving it though!!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend my friend! :-)
I think you're right, Nick, I just had a quick look and I can still see a regular offender there.
Thank you for the good wishes regarding the house, Nick. In theory, it shouldn't be difficult, but I'm actually struggling to sell it, for some reason. It may be that I rent it, possibly, let's see what happens.
21° C sounds pretty good for this time of year, my computer says 2° C, although, it's early morning, or early-ish. We change the clocks this morning, so we are now back to dark days for a few months. Fortunately, and thankfully, after the 21st December, we will start to see the days lengthen again, which always gives hope.
It certainly sounds like great weather for ducks!
A very happy Sunday to you.
Roy
A regular offender or two are always there Roy... I will of course mention no names!!!
In regards to your house... if you rent it out then of course it will be more difficult to sell... there are so many more party's involved!
We are about 8°c now which is perfect for me for an Autumn evening and maybe 12-14 in the day!!
I certainly don't wish for summer to return again too soon though... I love this time of year here!!!
Have a fantastic week ahead my friend! :-))
That's so true, Nick! It's really tempting to mention names, though!
It's difficult to know what to do sometimes, Nick! I know people who've had their house on the market, for several years, and then all of a sudden, the right buyer comes along. I'm not desperate, I'm just kind of pushing doors and seeing what happens, one step at a time. Let's see what happens. I recently started in crypto, which is going well, as I may well be able to increase my income.
I think I would enjoy the autumn more (and I do enjoy it), if it wasn't the sort of winter coming. However, to be fair, in a way, the next couple of months are the worst for me, it's getting darker and darker. However, after Christmas, we can see light at the end of the tunnel, as we watched the days draw out. It is nice to have the seasons. I'm really glad that you enjoy this time a year, Nick.
I think if you live in a hot or cold country, we need to be geared up accordingly, it can make life so much more comfortable.
Thank you, you have a great week too, Nick.
I appreciate you commenting.
