Stop AI-ing for Pennies in WA

Hi Folks,

Lately, I've noticed a trend here inside WA that needs a little spotlight.

More and more members are using AI to create blogs — which is fantastic in theory.

I LOVE seeing people experiment with tools that can speed up writing, brainstorming, and productivity.

But here's the problem… too many of these AI posts are being pushed out without a single ounce of editing.
And the result? AI slop.

WA has an awesome system that rewards engagement with credits.

You can earn them by helping, commenting, creating content, and yes — blogging. But somewhere along the way, the goal shifted.

Instead of creating posts that teach, inspire, or genuinely help others, I've started seeing content that exists purely to collect credits.

You can spot it a mile away:

  • Generic marketing advice that could apply to anyone
  • Zero personal voice or insight
  • No story, no struggle, no lesson
  • Just… noise

AI is a powerful assistant. It can outline your ideas, tighten your sentences, even help you find the right tone. But if you hand over the wheel completely, your writing loses what makes it yours.

What makes a great WA post isn’t polish — it’s personality.
It's the experience behind the words.
It's the "here's what I tried, and here's what actually worked."

That's the kind of content people remember. That's what builds your reputation here.

If you're going to use AI, awesome — just make sure you edit it.

  • Add your real thoughts and voice.
  • Humanize it.
  • Share something from your experience.
  • Make it valuable.
  • Write for people, not for pennies.

Because no one's inspired by a robot-generated checklist. They’re inspired by people who show up, share, and speak from experience.

WA was built on community, not automation.
Let’s keep it that way.

Al Slop = Bad. Lots of AI slop everywhere, and I agree...AI slop here is not going to be rewarded and if people are copying and pasting AI, their content is going to be removed (and like you said, it can be spotted from a mile away).

AI can be used to create the foundation of your content, just like the content on your website. But it is your responsibility as a creator and a publisher to PUT YOUR NAME behind every piece of content that you create. If you cannot love your content and if you don't enjoy skimming through it yourself, nobody else well.

A very fair post, and one that I think is important for the community to understand not just when posting content here at WA, but anywhere. Nobody likes AI slop.

The official rules have been fully updated to reflect this: AI Slop in blog posts, vlogs, comments, or SiteComments is not allowed.

Another point, I have seen people post content and ask how to do the very thing they posted about days earlier. You would think they would at the very least learn from what they are trying to teach.

Michael

I have seen this too, we often times end up deleting those users altogether as they come in and are here to earn a few points...and abuse the system. If you see this happening, just drop me a PM and I can take care of it. :)

7

It is not always starter members.

4

Yeah, fair. Doesn't have to be, either way I will deal with it. I catch it most of the time, but if you see it happening reach out. Thanks!

4

And to add to this, AI Slop has been added to the Official Posting Rules:

20. No AI created content. While AI Assisted content is fine (content that you make your own), you cannot copy and paste "out of the box" GPT, Bard, Claude or other AI content here into blog posts. AI "Slop" will get deleted, and you could lose full write access.

If you are going to post content here within WA, and you plan on copying and pasting content from an AI engine, expect deletion of that content moving forward and if it persists, write access removal.

Read the posting rules here.

12

Woohoo Kyle!

Really appreciate you stepping in and clarifying the official stance and updating the posting rules. That kind of leadership keeps the community strong.

13

Affirmative Kyle.

Appreciation acknowledged. Issue clarification complete. Direct engagement with the problem detected and confirmed. Copying and pasting of AI-generated content identified as a recurring variable. Efficiency of resolution sequence verified. Continuation of task execution recommended.

4

Reflecting on this for a while, you could extend this to comments as well. It would not hurt my feelings a single bit!!!

6

Yep all slop. Including comments. Banned. Proper ai use only here. :)

4

Exactly, Michael!

That's what makes AI post so weak!

Roy

That's great news, Kyle!

It's so much better when we have genuine and real experiences about members on their online journey. I also see people taking advantage of the earning system, I'm sorry, but that's just wrong. I hope we can get back to seeing the top 10 quality and real Wealthy Affiliate blog posts!

I see some members posting daily AI slop, that needs to be stopped!

If you have a moment, Kyle, have a look at my comment that I wrote to Jay, please.

Have a great day and thank you for the good news.

Roy

5

Thank you Kyle! For someone who always writes his own content, I truly appreciate You and Carson enforcing this. 👍👍

3

No problem!

2

Absolutely Roy, we are in total agreement.

2

That sounds, fantastic, Kyle!

It's so much better when we can hear genuine stories of members on the platform!

Have a great day.

Roy

Hey Kyle,

Thank you for sharing this important information and the updating of the posting rules. That is one reason why I haven't really started posting here yet, as I am too busy with other things and can't just rely on AI to get work done.

2

Hey Kyle,

Thank you for sharing the updated rules. I am sure this is an eye-opener for everyone. Let's keep it real!

2

I agree with you 💯 on this, Kyle!
People should still take the time to edit it out while they can input their names while writing out content.

Myra ♥️

2

100% agreed. I've always looked at obviously AI generated slop in WA with a type of whatever eyebrow raise.

Value in content isn't just pressing a few buttons, entering a few prompts and making a masterpiece in the process. That's what a lot of people think and it just makes them lazy and instills qualities that don't help them succeed in the long run.

If anyone can do the same thing, then that thing has little value. It's in the scarcity of adding your own unique voice to the content that it's value is raised, both for the user and the viewers.

3

For me, it's the members who are convincing themselves that they've "refined" their AI pasted content because they input very specific AI prompts. Spoiler alert: that's not refining.

As an example, even though this post uses em dashes, bullet points, etc., you can literally HEAR your voice saying these words. Meanwhile, if you take all the copied and pasted AI posts and stack them on top of each other you'd get basically the same voice, and members have got to start realizing it's not their own.

"There's so many great AI written posts here inside WA" <--- No, there aren't. 😂

AND YES LET'S NORMALIZE USING THE DONALD SUTHERLAND GIF FOR ALL AI SLOP! lololol

I tried reading through some posts today from the homepage, and my god, they all start the same, by launching straight into the perfectly preachy, fact laden, clinical content with no introduction, no personality, or any ownership. Character they do not have.

I am quite sure the content is absolutely spot on, but they are so dull. I wasn't able to finish one because I couldn't get beyond the first couple of paragraphs.

Adding a copy and paste 'outtro' does not constitute a rounded blog post article.

I used to love wading through long personal stories of struggle and persistence, culminating in success, picking up the nuggets as I went. Sadly, I'm not seeing those types of articles anymore. Or maybe they are just buried?

I know it is all new and a lot are playing with AI as if it is a new toy, which it is, but we must do better.

We also seem to have had an explosion of 'experts' in not just one or two areas of the online business sphere, but experts in seemingly every aspect.

I want to hear from those who have walked the walk and have the results to show for it, rather than the AI copy and paste merchants.

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, but my general overview of how I see it.

Oh well!

Someone said here that for us whose English is not the first language (for me, it's the 4th), AI-assisted/generated text sounds polished and therefore tempting to edit. However, as I begin to look deeper into my work, I am beginning to see what you folks are pointing out: personality.

2

I believe you are right, John. It is the personality that is missing.

I understand when English is not the 1st language, but that still doesn't stop personality being injected into the piece.

My wife's 1st language is not English but she writes with beautiful personality. The structure of the language can be a little qwerky at times but it is still, undeniably, her work.

Thanks for your imput, john. We can all improve and we should definitely strive for that.

1

True. Growth begins when we accept our mistakes and even weaknesses. I'm ready to write and grow, myself. Yes, I will use the tool, but with more care, and add more personality to it each time.

1

Yeah, especially with WA posts that are meant to be more personal, more part of a community… you know? It’s just odd that so many use AI to create something generic when it’s their own experience that makes the post worth sharing.

Use the “Hide Content Like This” setting on those posts and you won’t see content from that member as much. It makes a big difference. I use it all the time. 👍🏼💯

2

It’s the difference between receiving a greeting card from someone you care about that has no personalized message attached and getting one where they’ve added something specific for you. One means everything and one delivers a generic message.

2

Thanks for the example.

Love this post and so true.

Sparky helps me with posts and web articles but I still hold the reins. It is a collaboration of what I want to say and Sparky's ability to polish and make it sound better.

I agree that with AI ability, it may be tempting to give a simple prompt and the run with whatever AI spits out.

But doing so loses the whole heart of why we started writing.

Good morning Jay,

Thank you so much, for highlighting this massive issue on the platform, personally, I would just have it removed. There are members posting AI slop daily, which totally lowers the tone of the platform, this needs to be removed, as, much of it's only due to the fact that members are earning a few cents, producing AI slop!

I try and avoid commenting on AI slop, as this is not what Wealthy Affiliate is about, even though the content may be correct. I see members commenting on AI slop and saying what a great post, it's not, there's nothing personal or real about it!!

I used to regularly read several of the top 10 posts at Wealthy Affiliate, but now I read very few. I want to hear real and genuine experiences, not an AI post. I feel it really lowers the tone of the platform, as many members are not being real anymore.

I sincerely hope things change.

Have a great day.

Roy

4

I so agree with you, Roy.

I also used to love reading through real stories of progress and success. They were genuinely motivating.

The touble is, it is necessary to wade through this impersonal rubbish to find a morsel of something good. Not a fun way to spend time anymore.

I love Jim Rohn, and he once said, "you may find a morsel of food in a garbage can, but I wouldn't spend the time looking for it." That is almost correct, probably paraphrashing a bit, but the messge was the same.

I, like you, try to avoid commenting on the slop.

5

Just wait at the can, when the food is thrown out and you can easily find that morsel easier! I may have to compose an AI enhanced How to Accomplish this!!!

2

Good morning Richard,

That's good to hit where both on the same wavelength, Richard, your comment really resonates with me!

Going to the top 10 blog posts on wealthy affiliate, used to be one of the first things I carried out in the morning, as it was just a good way to start the day and wake up with a cup of coffee. But you are a 100% right, it's not much fun wading through AI slop! In fact, more often than not, I don't even bother to look at the top 10 blog posts, as it's just not worth it.

Yes, that's an excellent quote by Jim Rohn, it's the same type of situation.

It's good to see that Kyle and the team are doing something about it.

I appreciate you taking the time to comment.

Have a great day.

Roy

2

Personally, I don't like using AI to write my content because it cannot capture my personality. I also do not have a problem in holding a conversation. I talk to myself all the time. LOL

However, I have seen a lot of that AI slop since coming back to WA. It has turned me off to engaging with many WA blogs. I have no problems helping others with their points, but if it's an AI post, I will not.
