A Simple Keyboard Shortcut That I Had Not Noticed!

Yesterday, I was using my desktop PC that has a stand-alone keyboard. I can't believe how blind I can be, I have been using this keyboard for over two years! I discovered that the keyboard has volume controls! I had not seen the three sound buttons before!

I am a great fan of keyboard shortcuts; this shortcut is certainly much easier than using the mouse to go to my sound settings.

This is a very short blog post, but I just wondered if other members are making full use of keyboard shortcuts.

Thank you for reading.

Roy

PS: I think this is my shortest blog post ever!

I use dual monitors, Roy. I can't tell you how many times I have to drag my mouse down to the corner of the screen to lower or raise the volume. The volume controls make life a lot easier.

And you're right - we need to make a practice of using these shortcuts until they're second nature.

Thanks!
Isaiah 😊

Good morning Isaiah,

I hope that you are doing well.

I know exactly where you are coming from! I had two monitors and found them so useful that I purchased a third one! And yes, I know what you are saying about dragging your mouse down to the corner, that's exactly what I was doing!

I also have volume controls on my Dell sound bar that I was also using! I have to say that the keyboard controls are much easier!

Yes, maybe I need to learn a keyboard shortcut a week and keep using it until it's embedded in my mind.

Wishing you a great day.

Roy

I don't notice those settings on my keyboard, Roy. Perhaps I should investigate!

Have an excellent Sunday!

Jeff

Good morning Jeff,

I don't know if this is a standard feature are not, but I guess that it is. I believe my keyboard is fairly standard it was just the one that came with my Dell precision desktop. Have a look Jeff and let me know, please, when you have a moment.

Have a great day.

Roy

Where would it be, Roy?

Jeff

On my desktop keyboard, Jeff, I have the number keyboard on the right and then the insert/print screen button to the left. The three buttons are above the insert/print screen button.

Roy

My Del keyboard must be older then, Roy! I'll check one of my newer keyboards.

Jeff

I've just started to use a new keyboard and it took ages to find the Function (fn) key. It's the BIG one on the right.

Hello Marion,

It's good to hear from you, I hope you're doing well.

I don't know why manufacturers need to move keys around, it just makes life more complicated! My Fn key is next to the Ctrl on the left, I believe that's the usual place?

Have a great day.

Roy

That's where it was on my previous keyboard. Both are made by Logitech. Go figure.

Interesting, Marion! I'm all for keeping things simple, some things are hard to understand!

All the best.

Roy

Well you learn something new everyday and it becomes a great feeling that it was there all along. I'm glad that you found it useful. :)

Myra

Good morning Myra,

I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment on my blog post, thank you.

Your words are so true, it is a good feeling when we learn something new. Sometimes the solution is so simple!

Wishing you a great day.

Roy

Haha, well they say you learn something every day! :-)

I have a 🎵 on mine and have never used it or needed too.
Just pressed it an it brings up Media Player.....well I never!

:-)

The thing is there are so many ways to do different things.

Keep learning Roy :-)

All the best!

Glynn

Oh and I still can't find the "ANYKEY". Please help me!! :-)

Good morning Glynn,

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post and respond, it's appreciated.

That's good, I'm not the only one who has missed something on the keyboard, amazing!😀

That is so true, we never stop learning! The problem is I can learn keyboard shortcuts, but if I don't use them regularly, they can be forgotten!

Have a great Sunday.

Roy

Here is a quote from Google, as I have never heard of the "Anykey"!

Any key is any of the keys on the keyboard such as the spacebar or Enter. When a program gives the prompt "Press any key to continue," this indicates to press any of the keys on your keyboard to continue.

I don't know if this helps.

Roy

Hmmm, can't find "any of the keys" button either!!! 🤣
