I have chosen a WP theme which I really like (Silver, Blue and Gold) except that in the top right corner it has a prominent Search box. Is there any way to remove this box. Than
You can.
But it will mean going into one of the php files and removing the bit of code responsible for displaying the search box. Not hard to do but you need to be careful what you take out - otherwise you might screw up the theme.
Also if you update the theme then you'd have to remove the search box again.
( So, ideally you'd use what's called a 'Child theme' - give it a Google )
Thank you IMc. That is really helpful. As I say to Nathaniell below I do truly appreciate you taking the time to reply, and the wisdom of that reply. Rosie in New Zealand

How do I remove part of a theme?

Ian is spot on. I will also add that this is something I would only do if you are using a paid for, professional theme, and I'd hire someone from oDesk to do it. It's not worth paying for someone to edit code on a free theme.
