5 days ago I challenged you to write down / track the activities that you are doing during the day.

And I promised to check in 5 days how it's going so here we are.

If you haven't read that post yet, simply click the link above to read the details.

My Own Experiences

I'll share quickly my own experiences with this exercise and I'd love to hear from you in the comments too.

It Boosted My Productivity

Whenever I have been tracking my activities, my productivity has been better. I've been able to tackle one task after another instead of sliding into endless distractions of the Internet.

Writing things down seems to help to stay better on track.

Therefore, I plan to do this even more in the future.

There are things that I've noticed make my productivity better usually. For example,

- Writing down long term goals
- Tracking
- Working in a co-working space or cafe instead of home
- Putting a phone away from the desk

And now I can add this one to the list: - Writing down my activities

It Wasn't as Easy as I Thought

When I slipped into doing things that weren't productive I sometimes kinda said to myself, "It's not so important. You don't need to write down everything." And that dragged me off the path.

I'd need to stay more consistent with writing things down because it seems to help to avoid unnecessary activities.

However, I also noticed that...

Writing Things Down Helped Me to Get Back on Track Faster

Let's say that if normally I would have kept on doing some unnecessary things for a longer time, now I was able to get back on track faster.

After writing it down, I realized faster that it wasn't a good activity and started doing something that I was supposed to do.

Did You Try It? Are You Going to Continue?

I am personally going to continue using this "tool" at the very least now and then, if not all the time.

What about you?

What kind of experiences did you have?

Let us know in the comments below!

PS. Feel free to share your successes as failures. I also shared that I didn't do it perfectly but it still had significant benefits.

PPS. If you didn't read yet the previous post where I explain this "writing it down" tool, you can read it here. :-)

Love,
Aparna

Every morning I write down what I will do that day. I even put them in my Day-Timer and assign them a time. It helps me stay on track. It also organizes my time more efficiently.

I do like to write things down. I have kept "to do" lists for a long time and also projects that I want to accomplish.

Writing things down forces me to get it done so I can cross it off my list.

Electronic lists do not seem to work for me. I suppose because I can choose not to open them.

Having it written down in front of me means I cannot avoid it.

I stayed focused on my productivity not 💯 but I will continue this I loved it

Awesome to hear that Dorrie!

Yes, I did and it works.

Awesome to hear that Barbara. Would you like to share more insights? :)

After making my list, I was able to create a blog using some of the things I put down on the list.
One thing even gave me an idea for an article for my MMO website.

Sounds nice!

Thank you, Roope!
