To be honest, I don't understand something.

People seem to prefer $50 over $1,000! That's what they have told me.

Let me explain you a little bit background...

A lot of my YouTube subscribers have been asking me to show websites that pay "easy money for accomplishing simple tasks". Such as

  • Online Surveys
  • Clicking Ads
  • Watching Videos
  • Downloading Apps
  • Playing Games
  • Etc.

As you may already know, these kinds of websites don't pay well. You may earn a couple of dollars here and there but that's all. Most of the time, getting any job will pay you many times more than those "easy money websites".

AND doing any online job or building an online business will obviously pay you much, much more. So I used to tell people like this:

"Don't Use EASY MONEY Websites..."

In the past, I advised everyone not to use those easy money websites because they pay so little.

My logic goes like this:

"Why would you waste your time doing these low-value task websites if you earn only $5 per day while you can pick an online job that pays you $50 per day or build an online business that can pay you even $500+ in a day?"

Someone might say that it's not so easy to get a job or build a business. Well, It's not that easy to earn $5 per day from those "easy money websites" either. Both require efforts but the end result will just be vastly different.

However, people didn't seem to understand this logic for some reason and they got pissed off that I criticized these easy money websites. They didn't like that I told them there are better ways to make money online and easy money websites aren't worth it.

Their argument was for example something like this, "But $5 is better than $0 at least, right?"

And that's completely true... But $50 is better than $5, right? They just didn't seem to understand it...

"It's at least better than Laying on the Sofa..."

So, I figured out that at least easy money websites are better than mindless chatting on social media or watching some useless news on the Internet.

At least you're earning something (even though it's close to $0) and providing a small value in the marketplace by answering surveys.

And eventually, I don't create videos for myself but for my followers so I decided to say that it's at least better to use those easy money sites than lay on your sofa doing nothing the whole day.

And then for those people who want better options for earning money, I showed for example affiliate marketing and Wealthy Affiliate.

People seemed to receive that message much more positively than the previous message when I said, "easy money websites aren't worth it at all".

But there's still something that surprises me...

$50 vs $1,000: People Would Rather Take $50!

Yesterday I created a poll on my YouTube channel and the results completely shocked me:

92 people answered the poll so far:

  • 68 persons would prefer $50 from "easy money websites".
  • ONLY 24 persons would prefer $1,000 from affiliate marketing.

I mentioned in the poll that I think that both of these things require the same effort. For a beginner earning $1,000 from affiliate marketing will take time but earning $50 from easy money sites will probably take even more time than that.

BUT STILL...

Most people would prefer $50 which is 20 times less money than $1,000.

"Job = Just Over Broke" - Homeless Person

Once I received a message from a person who had watched my videos where I showed different online job options. Those online jobs paid minimum $8/hour.

Then this person explained to me in his message,

"I don't want to look for a job because I've learned that Job means Just. Over. Broke."

Then he continued explaining that he has been using some "easy money websites" for earning a couple of dollars here and there. He asked if I could show him more easy money websites. It's a very typical message that I receive. People seem to love those "easy money sites" for some reason...

But then this person ended his message explaining that he's living in a homeless center because he doesn't have enough money. (He didn't ask for any money by the way.)

The ending of the message really dumbfounded me!

This person didn't want to look for a job because he had learned that JOB = Just Over Broke. And as a result, he was broke living in a homeless center.

It sounded like someone had seriously been misleading him...

What Do YOU Think?

I'd love to hear what do you think about this.

Leave your thoughts and comments below this post.

Why do people prefer $50 over $1,000?

Do you think "easy money websites" are ever worth it?

What would you offer for people who only want to use "easy money websites"?

Leave a comment below and let's discuss about this!

Looking forward to hearing from you.

PS. Eventually, I think that people often want something different than what they need. For example, overweight people may want to eat more cakes. But that's not what they need. They'd need to go to a gym and eat healthy.

And in the same way, broke people want easy money websites but they would really need methods that pay them better.

What do you think?

I think many people prefer mindlessly pressing a button and and answering surveys because they think it requires much less work and they think it guarantees them money.

However as I’m sure you know many of these sites will lock your account out when you can cash out or find another reason not to give you your money.

But I think if people took the time to follow WA’s training they would see that building a business really isn’t all that hard.

The hardest part is putting in the work and sticking with it.

But I guess sometimes people have to learn this the hard way. :)

I think those people are smart enough to realize that a bigger income usually requires conditions, which they usually don't have, or they have to study for it, otherwise the circumstances may not be favorable. So they prefer smaller numbers, which are generally, more real to get.
This is actually good for short-term planning targets, and should be improved regularly.
Just as a suggestion: maybe the form of the question should be more detailed, it can be completed with the reasons why they chose the answer, so that you can more understand it.
Ok, this from me, bye:)

Thanks for your insights Sylvia

You are welcome, Roope :)

I think that if you will spend the same amount of effort and time on both offer; its better then to take the $1000 offer, then the $50 offer! Unless you are telling them to pay a fee on the $1000 offer, they will surely go for the $50 offer. Most people coming into this site because they dont have money and they dont want to use their money to get money online. Thats my opinion. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing Marika!

Great post ... I think most people just don't believe they could make that much money online. They think it's either a scam, or that they just wouldn't be dedicated enough/knowledgable enough or smart enough to figure it all out. Whereas getting this $50... that seems a possibility to them, that seems real. They also underestimate the amount of time and effort it would take for them to achieve that $50... even though many people tell them this is the case.

Good points. Thank you very much for sharing these insights Natalie!

Its pretty simple, the average Joe or Jane is going to prefer the $50 up front rather than believing someone (who won't even guarantee it) who says they could make $1000 through affiliate marketing. People love to have instant gratification!
I still stop by some easy to make money sites and earn a few bucks when I'm bored because I know that my 20 minutes of work gets me $10. Especially, when spending several hours for a post may never get a return on the time spent writing it.
Mind you, I realize that I need to put more time into my efforts to truly be successful. So, I've accepted the fact that you CAN earn more with affiliate marketing but I'm not there, yet.
Just my 2 cents to your question.

I understand your point.

However, I have never seen any "easy money site" that pays $10 for 20 minutes of work even though I have reviewed hundreds of websites.

Something like $5 for 4-8 hours of work would be much typical based on my experiences of them.

I'll show you the site I'm talking about in my update video from March.
