How Will YOU Make Money Online?

Great question!

The reality is that there are many ways to make money online! The problem is that people often get distracted by the "latest and greatest" product or service and they are never able to build a successful (and revenue generating) business as a result.

Today I am going to run you through one of the most fundamental, yet powerful processes of generating revenue online.

It is a proven process, it is one that we use, and one that 100,000's of other Wealthy Affiliate members use. It is also the ultimate "making money" process that worked 5 years ago and it is going to work 5 years from now (and beyond). It is a process that will reveal as much opportunity in the massive online world as you are willing to work for!

It is called Affiliate Marketing.

But, just one thing before you get into the MONEY "stuff"...

The making money part of your business won't happen quite yet.

Before you earn money, you are going to first be focusing on creating your niche website (which will take place in the next two lessons) and are working to get traffic to your website. Without a website, without content, and without traffic, the MONEY part simply doesn't happen.

So don't look at this like a race. You will reach success and a great deal of it, but before you build your own personal SKYSCRAPER of a business, you must first have a solid FOUNDATION to build it on. That is going to be our first goal within the Getting Started training. Cool?

Alright, let's continue on! :)

Below is a video walk-through of today's lesson and the process of "How to Make Money Online - The Process Explained". Just click the PLAY button to watch it!

In the coming days you are going to be working through this process and by the end of this Level 1 training alone, you are going to have an awesome foundation in place that will lead you to much greater success.

Task #1: Understand the Make Money Process

There are MANY different ways that you can earn money online and many different ways in which you can build an entire business. The most lucrative and the one that we have been teaching here at Wealthy Affiliate for the past 14 years is Affiliate Marketing.

Below is a diagram outlining the process of making money through affiliate marketing.

There are now over 4 BILLION people online as of 2019 (YOUR audience) and these people are going to search engines, social media, or visiting websites for help all the time.

These people are looking for information, solutions to problems and to buy stuff.

That is where you are going to come in with your website and help these "audiences" by offering them information about what they are looking for. You will be "helping" these people, recommending products/services they can benefit from, and you earn affiliate commissions ($$) as a result.

There are over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. The opportunity is incredible and it is only growing!

By Lesson 4 of this course you are going to have your very own "niche" website in place that you will use to connect with your chosen audience and make money with. You will have your very own slice of the internet opportunity.

Task #2: Create (Write Down) Your Financial Goals

You want to earn revenue right? That is great! In order to earn anything however, you need to have some goals in place.

In this task we want you to join in on a "money goals" discussion here at Wealthy Affiliate. You are going to be telling us what your goals are and going forward, we are going to be helping you achieve these very goals!

QUESTION #1: How much money would you be happy earning?

QUESTION #2: How much would you be ecstatic (ie, really excited) earning?

QUESTION #3: And how much TIME are you willing to invest to achieve these goals?

PLEASE make 100% sure that you do not skip this step and you revisit this post regularly when you are in need of some motivation. I can absolutely assure you that if you work hard at this and you are persistent towards these goals, you will achieve them. But ultimately it is UP TO YOU!

JOIN DI$CU$ION: What Are Your "Money" Goals?

In addition to this, it would be wonderful if you commented on someone else's goals they have posted within this thread. Aim to comment on at least TWO people's goals. You likely can network with many other "like minded" people here at Wealthy Affiliate and this is a good way to get your networking efforts rolling. We are a friendly bunch here at WA!

If you have any questions about any aspect of the make money process, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

Awesome, off to the next lesson now where you will be "choosing your niche"!

I've been always stuck on the finding niche problems. The thing is I am passionate about making blog on self-improvement niche (I'd probably have to narrow it down to self-love or sth) Though I always hear that it's kinda hard making money out of that industry since people there usually don't really come to purchase products and they're only seeking for motivation or sth that keep them moving through their days. So the question is do you think I should still go with this niche or is it better to change to a more profitable niche. Because before starting out making website out of it, I'd want to make sure the niche is sth I am passionate about and also help me earn profit in the long run too.

It can be challenging to make money on your suggested niche. You could use books and courses as products.

Since you are at the beginning stages of choose a niche I am attaching things that may give you other option ideas.

How To Choose A Niche.
A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. What is it that you want to help a group of people with or what problem do you want to help them solve (group could be age, gender, location, experience level, degree or type of need, etc.)

A niche is not a product, it's a subject that you can help a target audience with. Remember, you are not setting up a shop (store), you will be writing lots of articles about your niche to help your targeted audience.

Kyles asks us to complete this statement.
'i want to help ____(group) with ______(problem)'

For example. I like camping and what to help campers buy the right equipment to make their camping experience more pleasant and safe.

Camping is a very broad topic with a lot of competition so to eliminate some competition in the beginning so the website has a chance to grow, the focus needs to be a smaller scope. For example essential camping equipment for beginners. Once the website is established and has a good volume, its scope can be expanded to include other things camping related. This is just an example.

The key to getting started fast is to narrow your niche down to a specific topic. This way, you will eliminate a lot of competition and get results much faster. Once your site is established and you are getting traffic you can expand your niche scope.

Thank you for the advice and I'm really appreciated for the info you have provided. Anyways I'm wondering if it's a good idea to start out with 2 websites at the same time? One is pure out of my passion and the other one just seem to be more profitable according to my opinion. Just in case my first website doesn't work out I'd still have another one to work on? What do you think?

Can you monetize the one you are passionate about?

Are there affiliate programs for the one you are passionate about?

You can do a browser search.
Your niche + Affiliate program + location (location is optional)

Are you sure there is no way to monetize your passion idea..

If there is no way to monetize your most passionate idea I would start with the other one first. Here's why we say only one website at t time. - You will be researching, and ideally writing 100+ original content posts each 1000+ words. When you start your website you want to consistently add new posts so Google sees your routine. Your posts will get crawled faster and your ranking will grow. You will need to leave time to learn new things as you go too. At least for the first 6 months working on one website is highly advised. You want your website to have the best possible outcome. As you grow a following your website visitors will come to expect new content. Adding new content grows your website ranking and traffic and ultimately your earnings.

Hi

"Personal development - self improvement" isn’t a niche. It’s an industry. You’d want to get more specific with what audience you’re helping and what goal within the personal development niche you’re helping with. Time management? Sales training? Law of attraction? Habit formation? Making vision boards?

The problem is some people try to do it all then it becomes hard to sell anything because you don’t have enough people who have the same interests." I'd certainly narrowed it down and cover one specific aspect, when your site starts developing traffic, traction and authority you can then scale.

However so I would always go with ONE subject focused niche that best resonates with me.

========================================

The recommendation is to focus on ONE site starting out as it takes lots of effort and work get it going, however once you know what you are doing, then the learning curve would be less steeper to scale up.

=========================================

Has to be drill down and focused, otherwise you will find it very hard to get noticed by the search engines and to compete with big authority sites. Target audience is important too, who would you be writing to, once you are able to identify them, you are closer to finding a focused niche.

A niche subject is something you are passionate and genuinely interested in could be a hobby or an interest, and know so well you can write plenty original content about.

ONE niche, a website. Products and programs can be varied however all must be relevant to the niche.

You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. You can search what real people are asking as in Questions, Prepositions, Comparisons, in the past, letters and query. It is also great if someone wants to write a thorough research based article.

When deciding on a niche try narrow it down to a more specific niche, you can ask yourself the following question:

So I want to help people with ____________________ ?

Fill in the blank and you are going to get closer to a specific audience. Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once a site starts gaining traction, traffic and authority you can then scale to acover another subcategory.

See example blog post below You can try the Promote tab top menu

Or

You can do a google search

Hi, I have a question regarding my niche. I was thinking of choosing Funkos. So for those who don’t know what this is, it’s a pop figure that people collect from movies, tv shows, games etc. But I was just wondering would this be a sustainable niche? I haven’t got a ton of personal interests currently, other than my love for collecting funkos & dvd boxsets. I’ve noticed there is affiliate programs for funkos, so I’m just wondering if this is a good niche idea or not.

So who would you define as your audience?

Here is some information that will help you to refine a niche. You may even come up with a more passionate niche idea since you mentioned you have a lot.

How To Choose A Niche.
A niche is something you feel super excited to write about, a skill you have attained, something that resonates with you. You will want to be focused on one niche. Hi Katie, my honest advice is to go with your passion.
Think ab like this:
A niche you chose from your passions and decide to write and write and write and never stop writing
If for instance you like/love cooking and gardening then that are your passions, go for it.
Some of the eldest people here told me that in order to succeed and in order for Google to see you as an authority you must have been writing at least 20 articles for just 1 passion, eg. cooking.
You may consult with https://answersocrates.com/ for further research into finding a subcategory starting out. Hi Katieemma. "But I was just wondering would this be a sustainable niche?" Believe me, this is the first thing that comes to every one of our minds when choosing a niche.
However, as I said before to Idowu, first feel the passion, the direction, and put in all it takes to make it work. Good luck!

Hi

Awesomeness I looked it up in Google to see what it was.

However you ought to think what would these products or boxsets do for a specific group of people, who would benefit most from what you have to offer. Mainly who would be your target audience?

And how would you monetize it?

Who are the affiliates that I can use? Are there big companies like amazon, ebay etc, that already has a bond with WA or should I email the company Directly and promote my Niche to them and ask for feedback?

Is my Niche going to be private or through WA ?

Hi

You can use the Promote tab top menu.

Or

You can do a google search
Your niche + affiliate programs
Your niche + affiliate programs + location
and see what results you get

You'd contact program or network independent of WA.

Your niche is private, it is your business and it is up to you what you do with it.

WA is a learning platform that teaches us how to build a progressive successful site for affiliate marketing. Please follow the training and apply what is taught all is explained within the lessons, ticking checklists at the bottom of lessons, tasks asked of you to complete in order to set up properly.

However, your site need be ready before you apply for affiliate programs

You would have written 20 - 30 posts and have some traffic to be able apply for affiliate programs as typically they will check your site for relevance and traffic prior approval.

For Amazon it is 10 - 15 posts. You also would have to make 3 sales in your first 180 days.

Lucrative programs - 40 posts +

Once accepted, they've given you material and special tracking code links you can share on your site.

Essentially you are writing more informational posts so that you do not sound so salesy to Google and if there’s a solution, a detailed analysis review post for your visitors to let them make an informed decision whether to go click your links and go purchase the focused item you proposed to solve their issue.

Once they do, and in accordance with your affiliation terms and conditions, how commission payouts are tracked and paid. You need to read up how payments are made because different programs follow different rules; some pay by check others via PayPal or straight to your check account.

I would always adhere to your affiliate program terms and conditions.

Good morning Kelvin,

Thank you for your question, I hope you're doing well.

You can literally use any affiliate company you like. Wealthy Affiliate lists a lot of companies, however, when I'm looking for affiliate programs, I normally just carry out a search in Google. Make sure the affiliate program is for the appropriate country.

I personally wouldn't recommend Amazon, however, there are some people who do well out of it. This is not the case, in my personal experience, though.

Your niche will have nothing to do with Wealthy Affiliate, it is totally independent of you. Don't forget that Wealthy Affiliate offers free hosting or you can use your own hosting. I have my own dedicated server but also use Wealthy Affiliate hosting. The Wealthy Affiliate hosting is pretty good actually quite a good added bonus!

I hope this helps.

Have a great day.

You can use any affiliate program you choose. You will be choosing a niche focus for your website so that will help you determine which affiliate programs to apply for. Apply is free but it is important that you have a website with 15 - 20 content posts published related to your niche.

WA does not limit who you become an affiliate of. That is completely your choice. But as I mentioned about you need a website with 15 - 20 posts in place. When you apply to become an affiliate, the program will review your website.

You can choose your own niche.

Hello , its a pleasure to unofficially meet you 😊 honestly I've been looking into social media for a while now and its true, there are more scams out there than I could possibly imagine, people take advantage because they know that you are in a desperate situation, trying to generate a income for your futureself. Yes, Ivan's bour blog got me thinking is this Legit or a scam but quite frankly I dont really have anything to loose except money.

I'm currently busy with Lesson two and Kyle is talking about Niches.
My question is this:
Can I create multiple niches with different ideas or am I only limited to 1?

I understand that is will take alot of hardwork and dedication but I am willing to make sacrifices and put in the effort needed to get the job done. When you reach a level of frustration it becomes the thing that drives you most to exceed the limitations you have made for yourself.

Hey Kelvin 🙂 I hope my blog has helped you to find out the information you were searching for. As you can see WA is 100%. The blueprint you've got in front of you WORKS. But it takes time and effort to get results, which I'm sure you already know.

As a Starter member, you're limited to one website. As a Premium member, you can build up to 10 different sites in different niches.

My suggestion, however, is to focus on ONE website and ONE niche first. Invest all your energy, focus, and time into your first niche site until you start getting results. Once you do, you can easily hire freelancers to keep your site running for you, and you can devote your time, energy, and focus to another niche website.

The unwritten rule is one website at a time, one niche per website.

I hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have questions!

We are delighted to meet you. And glad you found WA.
Yes, there are many scams out there and too many people don't know what they are getting into when they become a part of one. They just realize they did not achieve what they hoped with the money they spent.

Looks like you have a good background of how this works and are very excited to get going.

The best way to reach your goals is to do one niche on one website at a given time so you can focus and create quality helpful content to result in a niche authority website. A website needs a focus for an audience to desire returning and getting more help.

The number of niche websites you work on at one time is up to you. But the key is to dedicate enough time so that each website grows and doesn't become stagnant.

When choosing a niche for your website you will want to focus on helping people. That is a big key to success.

Hi, I had an idea for a niche, that of Rubik’s cubes. However I believe this may be too broad a topic and that I should focus on a specific area of them, maybe 3 x 3 or 4 x 4. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts?
