How to make Comment box display on your website pages

I am very mindful of how important it is for members to help one another. I have just recently been reminded about this during a lesson on providing great service. However I kept asking myself "How am I expected to do this'?.......especially being a novice member of Wealthy Affiliate for only a few months myself......Perhaps in a couple of years after I've learnt enough, I could probably have something worth saying and write a blog about it. If I attempt to do it now nobody will read it, and if they do, what value will they receive? No value whatsoever......I'll be known throughout the WA community as a time waster!

I dismissed the idea almost as soon as I had thought of it.

It just so happens that while sitting at my desk today, I decided to see if anyone was seeking assistance. Just out of curiosity...... and not actually expecting to be of any real help, but wondering if there was anything that I could learn from them. I saw that someone was asking for some feedback on an article they had just written.

Needing a break from my own study I though I would read their article (not sure if it was a Page or a Post on their website). I read the feedback left from a member who had viewed the article. He had commented on not being able to leave a comment because there was no comment box. This member had suggested that the author install a plugin or change the theme in order to solve the problem.

Immediately, I knew that the best way of displaying a comment box was within the 'Quick edit' option of the page itself. So after reading the article and verifying that there was no place for me to leave a comment. I wrote to the owner of the website and suggested she follow these instructions.

  1. Go to the Dashboard of your WordPress site.
  2. Look for your article either in Posts or Pages.
  3. Then hover the mouse over the title of the article.
  4. You will note that four options, 'edit'... 'quick edit' ...'trash' and 'view' will appear.
  5. Click on 'quick edit'.
  6. It will open a dialogue box containing various information.
  7. To the Right there are two little boxes 'Allow comments' and 'Pings' (in Posts) - (Pages will only display 'Allow Comments' only).
  8. They should both have ticks inside them.
  9. If they do not have ticks, place them in by clicking the boxes with the mouse.
  10. Then Save by clicking the "Update" button.
  11. This will allow the comment dialogue box to display at the bottom of your page or post so that people can leave you a comment on what you wrote.

I really didn't expect to be able to help anyone and I don't even know how I remembered that there was this option. I don't know if this is elementary, common knowledge. So I hope to be forgiven if it is. I'm not an expert at all. Just lucky! I had spent countless days and nights going over my content and wondering why some Posts had a comment box and some didn't and all of my pages were void of comment dialogue boxes.

Not wanting to be a burden and ask for assistance, I knew that there must be a way to figure this out. After all, how hard could it be, I thought. As I am unaware of the meaning of failure I kept searching for that one way to succeed. I thank the Power of Divine Providence that showed me how to do this and also to realise my desire to genuinely be of service and value to this wonderful community. I hope this has been of value and interest especially for the newer members who like me are struggling to understand this online world.

Just the kind of guidance I need. Thanks, Roldano.

Hi Roldano I really enjoyed your post I have comments on my pages and post Thank you.

You have given a valuable insight. Thanks a lot.

Thank you friend......
I'm just remembered that I had the same problem and was lucky enough to stumble upon the answer. I merely passed my bit of knowledge on to others who might find it useful.
I'm quite sure that it's of very little value to those who have been members for some years.
At least I have one small Post in "My Posts" section......and with any luck I shall have more. I appreciate your encouragement and am grateful for your message.

Thank you

Your very welcome.......

Yeah! Great job and very nicely explained I might add!!

Thank you.....
I was in 2 minds debating whether or not to post this Blog, seeing that I've just recently joined the WA program. And was unsure how it would be received among the other members of WA or be perceived as inadequate to those with superior experience. I am glad that you seemed to understand it well enough. What can I say but to thank you sincerely.

Thanks for sharing Roldano. This is what makes the community great. Even as a newbie you can still contribute:)

Thank you.....
I was in 2 minds debating whether or not to post this Blog, seeing that I've just recently joined the WA program. As you can appreciate being a "newbie" isn't easy, especially being unsure how it would be received among the other members of WA or if it would be perceived as inadequate to those with superior experience, such as yourself. I am glad that you seemed to understand it well enough and I appreciate your support and you have inspired me to excel. I can only repeat myself and say? "Thank you sincerely."

Keep writing blogs here at WA. It is good practice and it gives you confidence:)

Hello Rika,
Thanks for the advice......I appreciate it! I like to write but also to give substance and value. Or else one is writing just to fill and waste others' precious time. I am sure I will have many ideas in the future. But right now I am reserving all ideas for my website. Everything that I write about I have actually experienced. Can I be so bold and ask you If you feel so inclined to give me your feedback on a few posts I would be very appreciative and if you send me your links I promise to do the same.
my website is called https://survivaldominance.com
I am at the point of putting affiliate links to direct people/visitors to buy an occasional knife or a sleeping bag or maybe a back pack. However I am uncertain which affiliate program I should join. Can you recommend one? I don't particularly like Amazon for personal reasons. I feel every man and his dog sell through Amazon and I would like to be different, if I can!
