Snow Day in Victoria BC
It doesn't happen very often in Victoria but here we are, a snow day and almost everything is shut down including my grand kid's school. Guess what? I'm going to take a break from this blog post and I'm going to join the kids outside and do some sledding.
I'm back and my fingers are numb from the cold but it's all worth it. Family first is and always was how I lived my life (except during some stages of being a teenager).
We live at the top of a hill and no cars were going to plow through the roughly 30cm of snow that fell over the past couple of days. If someone did attempt the drive it would be a very slow and precarious one so I wasn't worried that the grands were sledding down the road laughing and carrying on like kids do while the neighbors were digging out of their driveways. I think the sound of children having fun made for bit of a happy break for the poor souls who were working their butts off and freezing their fingers.
By the way, I too had to shovel my driveway and that was done after the sledding with a little help from the grands and their little shovels. Quite a bit of the snow from the little shovels ended up on my head and some of the snow that I shoveled up ended up on top of theirs. Who would have thought that fun can be had doing some menial task like clearing snow from your drive.
Although I did move to Victoria to get away from the cold and snow I do miss the fun that can be had in it.
Stay warm, happy, healthy and safe,
Roland

Grand kids are the best snow or shine
Glad you were able to enjoy time playing in the snow.

I love to get snow and be able to play in it with my kids. One of the great things about living here in Wisconsin. We really haven't got a lot of snow this winter but it is still early. Family first work last on days like this for sure.
All the best

It is definitely a good load of snow, with winds expected this evening (the worst combo). Be thankful you are not in the prairie provinces, they are going through a freeze right now!
Stay safe, have a hot cup of cocoa and enjoy Roland!

I left the snow and miss playing with grandkids in it. But, I try to move forward with decisions that are long term.
