My Journey Continues . . .
Hello everybody, time to introduce myself. My name is Rod, as you can see, and I have been marketing online for close to 20 years in different capacities. Back in the late 1990’s I was building retail web sites, then in 2005 started online marketing and some affiliate marketing.
In 2008 I started a SEO business, and by 2011 was doing great, at the time Living at home in Canada, but always had the dream or living overseas, as many of my online friends had done, and I had finally developed a great income online, so I took the plunge, and moved to Panama.
Living overseas and making money was not a problem for me, as an online marketer my business was totally mobile.
Well, in 2012, I was convinced by a friend to co-found a Publishing Company, with a social media website for book lovers, so my online business went on hold. Over the next 5 years, our IT team here in Panama, and operations team in the USA, developed on of the largest websites for book lovers.
This year, I took a step back from that company, watching it grow from a distance as adviser and board members, and now I am jumping back into what I really love, working online.
I chose affiliate marketing, and came across this site, and joined this community. I have jumped into the training, and really, things have changed since the 2008 years online.
The Online Certification Course, was fairly general for me, but it was a great refresher and learning what has changed in the last few years was very important to me. I see now, that I will be promoting this course as a major part of my affiliate network, as the content and training is excellent.
I chose affiliate marketing as my choice this time, for mainly two reasons. No logistics and no customer service. In some of my past online business, I built retail websites that sold merchandise, which requires customer service and logistic departments with staff. I am totally done with that business.
One of my focuses will be affiliate marketing for expats. Back in 2010, when I was a full-time internet marketer, and had many friends online from places around the world, and I discovered many were expats living anywhere they wanted around the world.
When I decided it was my time to be an expat, my short list of countries were, Thailand, Costa Rica, Chile and Panama. I chose Panama for several reasons that were right for me, and moved here in 2011 in my mid 40’s. I was not ready for retirement, but my online business could be run from anywhere I had an internet connection. (the picture at the top is the little town I live in in the mountains of Panama)
Circumstances changed as I shared above, but my love of working online did not go away.
In my almost 7 years here, one of the hot topics in the expat community, over coffee, drinks or dinner, is how can I earn extra money as an expat. Now it looks like I have something to show them.
I know making 4 and 5 figures online monthly is possible, I have been there, and maybe you are just starting your online adventure, and maybe a year from now you may decide to live in that exotic place you have always dreamed about.
As I said, my journey continues, and I look forward to meeting many of you in the community.
