Once upon a time, I'd come across a keyword phrase with thousands of monthly searches, weak competition, and go all-in laser targeting it. Now, I analyze it to consider its relevancy to a project. If it's irrelevant to a site, it's likely to have a high bounce rate. If I was publishing for page views only, sure. I'd find a way to make it work. As part of a funnel to drive visitors deeper into a site, it doesn't fit the criteria. I suppose that's progress. Could've wasted hours, published the thing then been disheartened to feel every single person to find it, hates it. Relevancy - It matters.
