Is Your Content Quality Or Run Of The Mill?

Hi Folks

I see so many new members ask this question - What do I Write About?

Let me tell you right now it doesn't matter what you're writing about because that is not your goal.

Your goal is to write for people well enough so that they will come to trust what you're writing about and turn into buyers of whatever you're selling or promoting.

If you’ve been writing quality content for some time, you're sure to have noticed that your rank stays relatively stable. On the other hand, if you have resorted to keyword stuffing tactics, then your website is probably not doing so well, is it?

Either way, it never hurts to refresh your SEO writing knowledge. Take a look below at what I believe are the main points for writing content for your website:

1. Write For People

It can never be said enough but Google’s primary mission is to deliver great content to people performing searches. If this isn't your goal as well, then you're wasting your time writing anything.

Before you even research your keywords you must think about your potential audience. What do they want to read about? What kind of information would really help them?

2. A Main Keyword

It is entirely possible for your article to rank with more than one keyword. But this doesn't mean that you should set more than one keyword. Why? Because you’ll lose focus. Try to use LSI Keywords within your article because then you will only use them once.

Here’s another reason why:

3. Where To Use Your Main Keyword

You want to make it clear what the article is about from the word go. This is useful for both human readers and search engines.

This being so your main keyword should appear in:

  • The title
  • Headline
  • The first paragraph
  • Somewhere in the middle of the article
  • The last paragraph
  • Within your Alt Tag
  • At the beginning of your Meta Description.

You should always have your content read in a completely natural way (as you would speak).

4. Use Low Hanging Fruit Keywords

Everyone wants to rank for really short keywords like Tuxedo or Kitchen Remodelling. But there are two problems with these keywords:

  1. They are almost impossible to rank for. You could spend a lot of money on them and achieve a great rank on page one of Google. But you don’t want to do that because:
  2. They’re useless.

When someone searches for either of the above keywords, they are not looking to buy the products or services. They’re window shopping, they want information about them.

On the other hand, queries like “Tuxedo's For Hire In New York”, “Custom Made Kitchens In Edinburgh” all show intent. The intent to buy. Which is what you should be looking for.

5. Take Your Readers Into Account

Respecting the reader is something you should also bear in mind and take into account.

How can you tell if you’re doing it right, though?

We sometimes forget that we are dealing with real people.

So, when you add your keywords and your alt tags make sure you’re not sacrificing readability. More importantly, read your text again to find out if its...

Is it helpful?

Is it written in such a way that your potential customers understand?

Have you covered the topic well enough?

Is there something else you could add?

Is there something redundant you should delete?

If your article is just an empty sales pitch with keywords sprinkled throughout it, it doesn’t matter how high it ranks. It will never bring you any clients. You have to make that connection with your potential customers.

Ok folks there you have it so what are you going to take away from this blog.

Have a great day and be successful.

Thank you for a very informative article. It lets me know that I am on the right track. In my niche it is very important to establish a relationship with my readers. I know this will take time and I am not looking to make any sales any time in the near future. I am in this for the long haul and at this point quality content is my main focus. The sales will come.

So there you go again. An extremely valuable insight into writing for real people. I come to understand that writing something to help someone find, do, or reference something that hat need help with is the key. I really like your words of writing wisdom. I get it and I'm confident all who read this will benefit from it.
It's not about the words or the frequency, it's about meaningful, helpful, engaging content that actually helps somebody with something. Thank you so much for posting this. OBTW: What is an "Alt Tag?" For that matter "What is a Tag and What is it used for?" Still a lot to learn...obviously. Thanks again.

Thank you for stopping by David.
When you upload an image to your Media Library and then you click on it another menu appears on the right side.
Within that menu you will see your Title.
Below that is the Caption Box.
Below that is your Alt Tag Box and below that is your Description Box.

The title is already there.
You can if you want to insert some text in the Caption Box (I don't usually bother) In the Alt Tag Box you should insert your Main Keyword.
(Tags and keywords are more or less the same)

With the Description you should elaborate on the Alt Tag.

Hope alls clear now.
Enjoy your day.
Robert
