Hi. The "My Notifications" is (can be) a bit of an annoyance at times. When answering a post, it seems I subscribe to the entire page? Not just that specific questions? It seems I

Carlaves is right just sort out what notifications you want

I know. The emails are not the problems in my opinion. But as soon as I write my opinion in a discussion/classroom, I'm automatically subscribed to that? I don't need those subscriptions...

If only I could specify that as well, not just emails, but also what kind of notifications I want here at WA. I'd like a notification if anyone replied to me, but not else.

Notifications like XXX and 3232 others commented on XXX - is very unnecessary and just an annoyance.

Emails, I have turned of mostly everything. But seems I can't do that with notifications here at WA...? Or am I missing something?

oh I just get the notifications from those in my network if you get no joy here with an answer try the live chat to

Have you only specified those notifications that you want? On the email that you get, the very last link is what you click on to bring up the notifications page. You can uncheck what you don't wish to receive. Hope this helps.

The emails are one thing, but I'm also thinking about notifications on this site :)

I agree, I would like to get more focused notifications, but I suspect that's how things are. I had to cull my email notifications to avoid getting so many, I'm thinking of turning them off completely for everything except PMs.

Hi. How to (best) check an article for uniqueness? Any tools? Websites? I tried "copyscape" but I don't know if this is the only or best tool to so.

I use the free site below. It has several handy tools. You do have to put up with a bit of advertising. It doesn't bother me. I don't mind these guys earning a bit of advertising revenue from making the tools available all in one place. A good idea though to check it with copyscape too.

~Jude

Seems like a great tool, so far!

Thanks Jude, I hope this tool is accurate as I found it very useful. I also went back and changed any phrases that came up red and ended up with 100% unique. I will be using this tool to help me write.

Glad it helped.

Hi Jude just a quickie, ive just used the link for plagiarism checker and quite alot of the text showed up on the date that i published it 24th jan 2015 but it came in red signifying that it is copied would that be true?
Update Jude. just clicked on the lines and they point back to my site

Shows that it is working. The idea is to use the tool BEFORE you publish it...lol. ~Jude

Ahhh right that makes sense Jude :)

Sorry I can't help but thanks for helping me I had never heard of any of these or knew that you could check this out. Thanks for asking, the answers have also given me some help. Hope they have answered your question, good luck

The simpliest way to find out is to paste 1-3 chapters into google search and you will quickly know if it is unique.

Yup, copyscape is the tool to use. No results, you are good to go.

Good question. I never tried paper rater OR copyscape. Thanks for asking.

Dom has got it. I also use "paper rater", they check for Plagiarism
John

Great! Will check it out.

As well as copyscape (generally the best tool), you can copy chunks of the article into google and see what comes up

I do use copyscape, and if nothing is found, it is all good?

Yeah
