So, Google authorship is over. This is typical Google in my opinion. I have almost missed count of all the projects Google launch then cancel after a while - some sooner than others.

And Google authorship will do nothing to SEO anymore. But the big question in my mind is, when will they shut down Google plus also? It will happpen, but when...

Google Authorship had very little to do with SEO to begin with. Losing Authorship has no effect on SERP and data shows that it will have very little negative affect, if at all, on CTR. It was a resource that Google was looking to get rid of for over a year and it was obvious that the end was coming.

Google+ on the other hand will not be going anywhere anytime soon. It may morph a little in terms of functionality but to get rid of Google+, as those I know from Google have said, would be like removing the nervous system out of a living being. Google+ is too intertwined with too many of Google's properties to be removed.

Agree with you on that. Google+ is here to stay, and because it is so intertwined with Google's other services, it's viral factor stands very strong still.

As for Authorship... Good,, begone.. was bugging the heck out of me anyways. Time for a new project, ha ha!

Oh man, I love google +. I just wish more people would use it so I could quit facebook.

I don't. Think the UI and experience overall is not optimal at best. However, Google plus needs to have a way more active community than it does today, to be able to survive in my opinion. Google have shut down a lot of "popular" services over the years, if it ain't popular with the masses...

The Google service I miss the most, is Reader. Or rather, missed the most. I use feedly now, don't miss reader anymore :)

I guess I can do without google + now that I have found the best social network in the world (Wealthy Affiliate). :-)
