One Month On - Well Almost!

I've been here at WA for almost one whole month :D and if you'd have asked me two months ago 'Where do you see yourself in a years time?' I'd have probably said 'Not much different to where I am today.'

So what has changed? Loads!

First, I clicked on an ad one day while wasting my time on Facebook, as you do (or used to!). That ad has changed my life. Positively. That advert reawakened my dreams, dreams that others had stolen from me over the years. You see, my (guilty?) secret is that back in the day, more years ago than I care to remember, I joined Amway.

Now say what you will about them but if there was one thing they did right with me it was dream-building - things like what car would you drive if they all cost the same, where would you take your holidays and vacations if money were no object.

Well, if anyone can dream big I can. We are talking Olympic standards here - I knew exactly what I wanted and most of all I wanted something to pass down to my kids. Not just anything, but a business that would make them proud to take over when my time came. A business that would see them through bad times as well as good. A business that meant that I wouldn't have been working the long hours I did then with rewards that recognized my TRUE value as a person and for my work. A business that I could do anywhere.

So, I made my list, learned to do the presentation, learned to pass all the skills that I learned down to my team, and their teams too. I got to the dizzy heights of 9% - that's where they tell you the 'secret'.

And then my team fell apart and with them went my dreams.

Later in life I climbed the corporate ladder. Life was good and I was a one-man department. Trouble was that every time I had time off I had phone calls every day and so my holiday wasn't a holiday after all - my pay off for the rewards was my time. They owned me.

Eventually it took it's toll on my health. My doctor told me to change my work or I would die early. I changed my career but the good rewards were gone.

Then, about 8 years ago, I first discovered Internet Marketing. I saw possibilities and began to dream again. If only I could have found WA then. You see, I couldn't find anyone worth listening to that would share their knowledge with me and with no direction and guidance it's like trying to shoot fleas in the dark. No Chance.

Now I'm at WA. I have the knowledge available. I have the help and guidance. I have vision. But, more importantly, I have my dream. My dream of my business to pass down to my kids, even though they've grown up and got kids of their own. My dream of financial freedom. My dream of working where I choose to work. It's my WHY and without my reason I wouldn't be doing this. Neither would most people.

So my advice to anyone starting out, or well on their way for that matter, is this. There are plenty of people ready to take your dream away, your reason to do this or anything else worth doing. Hang on tight to that dream. Fight for it. It IS worth it. YOU are worth it.

Dreams really can come true.

P.S. My choice of car is an Aston Martin when I get there - watch out for the photos.

I am also a dreamer. I guess we're all in the same boat on that one. :) We only live once (well, that we know of anyway! ha) so why not make the best of it. I feel that we're here on the Earth to explore and have experiences. This is one way to have a great experience, and one that can lead to other great experiences. Great post. I loved reading it!

Hi Christina.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post.

I believe that everyone has dreams and that some are more honest about those dreams than others - only the brave and the crazy try to achieve them. (I still haven't worked out which of those two I am!!!)

So carry on being brave and courageous and reach for the stars!

Richard.

Awesome, I too am a dreamer and look forward to working with others that dream as well. I have vision and want to take my family too... Thanks for the inspiring post and I look forward to working with you!

Hi Matt.

I'm glad you enjoyed the post and felt inspired.

I too look forward to working with you.

Richard.

Way to go. Look forward to seeing the pictures of the Aston Martin.

Hi Beverley.

Two of the dream building photos are up with my profile - makes it more real to me having them there. It's something I carry from my Amway days - have your dream builders in enough places to remind you but not enough for them to fall back into the scenery.

I find the best places are the bathroom and inside the front door - the front door one comes from reminding me why I was going to do every presentation as I left home!

But seriously, my next dream building step is to go test drive once I hit a certain level of income. That and a few smaller rewards for hitting goals.

I can feel a training article coming on!!

So many of us have dreams like you Richard, and had them in the past as well but something got in the way (life). It is good to be reminded that without our dreams life can be very dull. Ferraris are nice too.

Hi Con.

Yes, life would be very dull indeed without dreams and aspirations.

Richard.

P.S. Ferraris are nice but Aston Martins are better :p

I hope you will give me a lift in your Aston Martin ;-). Good luck to you and everybody else here at WA.

HI Anders.

Of course I would give you a lift in my Aston Martin when I get it - that is unless you'd rather walk!!! lol

Good luck to you, my friend,

Richard.

Anything worthwhile is worth the extra effort to achieve! Creating passive income so you can make your money work for you is the best feeling in the world. Watching and studying the knowledge possessed by guys like Robert Kiyosaki and Warren Buffet has lead me here and I'm glad I got involved. The trial errors of the last 4 years of SEO and building websites has paid off already with in a month and half being here.

HI Casey.

It's good to see that you are getting results and that you've learned from your previous experiences. I was always told to learn from the experience of others as it's a lot easier than learning the hard way yourself.

Richard.

Your story of how you got here is so similar to lot of us here. Most of us have tried many different programs that got us nowhere. Good post.

Hi Gordi.

Thank you. It's always good to remind ourselves that other have walked a similar path and that we aren't alone in our endeavours.

Richard.

Well done! Hope to see those photos of the Aston Martin soon:) Best of luck!

Thank you Greti.

Me too on those photos - when I get there you'll find out here first! I did take the liberty of having a 'dream building' trip to a garage a couple of weeks ago and photographed an Aston Martin - it's pinned-up in the bathroom so that I can see it several times every day.

It's something I recommend to people who dream big. Get a picture that represents your dream and place it somewhere that you will see it regularly.

Great idea. I did have a vision board before now I just keep a book by the bed but Ill probably take the advice and stick a picture of my main goals up somewhere where I see it all the time:) My friends will probably think I am crazy ( if they don't know already ) but well we cant hide it forever can we?:) Lets never give up on our dreams you are so right!

Sometimes, crazy is good so long as it's the right kind of crazy! And don't be shy, tell them what it's for if they ask - you may find yourself pointing them here (via your own link, of course!).

Excellent blog. I like your attitude.

Thank you JR.

I find that if you don't have dreams then you don't have anything to aspire to.

I finished writing this and straight away found this quote:- “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - H. Jackson Brown Jr.
